The only good banks are where the workers and manager is your friend or you bank with them frequently. It's the same system as everything else in Pakistan aka Wakfiyat.
I got my UBL account opened by a close family friend who happened to be the managers class fellow. # Opened within 1 week. I can simply just give the cash to him, sign the deposit slip and go home. Money will be deposited. For a random guy, wait in line and the drill.
Banks are just like Petrol pumps in Pakistan- Some do Eff you over.
This happened with me and mom in Meezan Bank, Laal Mill, Faisalabad;
Mom's friend wanted some artificial jewellery and clothes from Pakistan, she sent money through Western Union. I saw the WU board outside Meezan bank, went inside and asked the worker for WU counter. He told me it's the last one. Went there, a carpenter was fixing a draw which was near the computer and the clerks chair was pushed back to the wall and he was on his phone.
I said " Hi, I have this payment from WU, can I please receive it?" I got told off straight- " Nahin, kaam ho rha hay " To my astonishment, the computer was fully functional with Keyboard/Mouse and Printer in 100% working order, just his laziness was holding him back. I asked him if he could please do it for us as we were in a hurry- 4pm at that time. He told me no, he cannot reach the desk. I asked if he could stand up, he told me to get it done from some where else.
Sadly, I did not get his name, otherwise I would've complained. This is what I mean, if he was a " Waakif", would've brought me Tea and get everything done in minutes. Since he didn't know me, nah, he cba. And why is Maintenance work being done in Office hours? Gosh, I still regret, I should've at least used my voice recorder and get a hold of his name.
There is no " Best Bank " in Pakistan, not sure about HSBC, Barclays etc. A few branches are good and some just **** your head up.
UBL branch Rajanah- After Jummah prayers, the clerk who is the teller, came back after an hour, he went to attend someones Janaazah. Lo.:).
UBL main branch Blue Area, Islamabad- An office worker teased a TCS courier guy, it was cold and the poor guy came to deliver some documents. The worker had the guts to ask him " Kya aap Dastanay ( Gloves) Bechnay aaye ho?" The TCS guy went to the Manager to complain, the rude guy and his Chamcha started begging him to not go.
3 Female workers told the TCS guy to complain- He is simply rude and 'tis ain't the first time. Crap country this.
For those wondering- He sits inside the UBL Main Branch in Blue area- Walk in, climb up the stairs to the main waiting room, go to the right, then a right again. Where Cheques are usually processed.
Say you have a Barclays account in UK or abroad- Can you withdraw cash from that same account without paying any extra fees?
My mom pays about 450 Rupees everytime she withdraws money from HSBC using Nordea bank and the limit is only 150,000-/ per day...
