Hi guys, need your advice for my 2016 Altis 1.6
Earlier this year, my car had an ignition coil issue where the RPMs climbed slowly and the engine jerked. We replaced the coils (the 3rd one was burnt) and that fixed it for a while.
Later, the same symptoms returned. My mechanic Naski did a compression test (all good at 175 psi) and installed new, heavier Toyota C-HR coils. The car ran better.
Then the car developed a long cranking issue, especially on cold starts. Naski replaced the fuel pump three times, each time with a refurbished Kabuli pump in very good condition. The issue would disappear for a short while, but after the third replacement, the long ignition problem has come back again.
Now I’m considering what to do next:
Replace the fuel pump (and maybe injectors) again with another refurbished Kabuli set through my mechanic.
Take it to Toyota Central Motors, where they’ll charge around Rs. 20,000 for diagnostics and Rs. 50,000–80,000 for a brand-new fuel pump assembly.
Or maybe there’s something else entirely — relay, injector leak, sensor, etc.?
Would really appreciate advice from anyone who’s dealt with similar long-cranking issues on a Toyota Corolla 2016 1.6 Dual VVT-i. Thanks in advance!
