I have not seen “3 times drain and refill” mentioned anywhere in any official service or owners manual.

It seems like a self made invention by some.

It appears to be based on the logic that a single drain/refill will replace only a small quantity of old fluid.

Dear please get an access to Toyota Repair Manual for K313, read the steps it will get clear.

One other possibility to access the Toyota Repair Manual is to visit any nearest Toyota 3S dealership, request them to show you on thier computer the section for K313 transmission fluid change. Read those sections.

If you wish, I can tell the exact Para /Section numbers of the Toyota Repair Manual for K313! Plz let me know

I know AMD, he is great technician. However, you must read the Toyota Repair Manual for your car model, & your region. No individual can replace or is authorized to modify/change the instruction of a car Repair Manual issued by the Car Manufacturer (OEM) company, which is written by the Design Engineering Team & issued officially by the Car Manufacturing company themselves.

Do you know what is the total quantity of CVT-FE in K313 transmission?

Do you know how much comes out, when only drain nut is removed?

Do you know, how much fluid comes out when filler tube is open?

Please do the math & let us know!

Also I’m not doubting you, the repeat emptying must be there if you’re sure about it, just haven’t seen it online.

I must have watched this video of AMD, in either case I'll watch again. If AMD is making any mistake or is differing from OEM procedure of K313, I am thinking to email him the issue/differing.

BTW he's a very very busy guy now. I hope he gets my email to read (If I send one). I had an email communication with him on a certain topic few years back.

Let me go throw to afresh the video for myself, from there we'll go!

Here you go. I am attaching two screenshots.

The first pic shows at Para-o to repeat the steps #1 to Step # 14 (Para-n) - note this will result in second time fluid drain/fill. Once done, then at Para-p, it tells you to repeat Steps #1 to #10 (lower the vehicle after fluid replacement, which will be third time fluid drain/fill.

The picture below shows the first three steps for draining. I am not sharing the rest of the steps up to step # 11.

**I hope now it is clear that three drain/fill steps are recommended for K313 CVT by Toyota Repair M.
