Toyota Aqua OBD2 ECU not responding issue

Assalam-o-alaikum,

I have toyota Aqua 2015. I an using Bluetooth OBD2 device and want to connect it with my phone using Andriod Application CarScanner, EOBDFacile.
The device makes connection with OBD2 device but when application tries to connect with Car's ECU its not responding.
Can anyone please help ?

I have tried many apps. DrPrius, Torque lite etc..

Which one you recommend ?

Problem maybe in OBD2 device connecting to car's ECU. Search for Toyota supported OBD softwares on playstore.

IMO, I think the issue is not with your smart phone, or software / Apps which you are using. Issue seems to be in the OBDII / ELM327 device, which you are using to connect with your car.

Trying changing it, and use the device which is branded, and from some reputed company.

Back in 2018, I bought following device from China, when I was there (and device to be used in Passo / Vitz, and am quite sure that it'll work with not only Aqua, but many other different automobiles too, whose protocols is supported by this device):

Costed me around ~200 RMB.

I brought it here, however, did not use it and sold it in box-packed condition.

The person who bought it, owned Passo, and asked me that whether it'll work or otherwise? I said we can check right now.

We opened the box, inserted the device in OBDII port of the car, connected it via Bluetooth with smartphone (and it immediately connected within no time), and used Torque Pro (or Torque App, I cannot recall the exact app name right now, but it is one of the famous Apps on Google play Store) for it.

The device also connected with the App within seconds and started showing the data, different parameters, etc. and gave no glitches. The owner went with the device, and I never got any complaints regarding the device from him.

So this was all the background, to say that the fault seems to most probably lie with your OBDII / ELM327 device, and not with the smartphone, Apps, etc.

Most of the cheap, non-branded OBDII / ELM327 devices are clones, and can at max. make connection with the phone / computer via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc., but are not able to communicate with the relevant software, or Apps to show Data.

To conclude; if your device is non-branded, then you may need to change your device, and buy a good, branded one.

Thanks alot @basitali87 for you detailed advice. I am trying to figure out the device which one should I buy. I dont want to go with costly devices.. Will continue my tries on new device and software combinations..

Try using torque pro and set up a vehicle profile for your car in that. Use advanced options and try different protocols. Check it on automatic first and then try ISO 15765-4.

Finally, I am able to connect to ECU of Toyota Aqua 2015. I have order below device and able to connect through bluetooth using Car scanner, Torque pro, EOBDFacile Apps. Thanks alot guys for your help
