Toyota axio 2007 oil recommendation

I am using Axio Luxel 2007 1.8 from past 8 years its been a wonderful journey. I bought the vehicle on 32k odo and currently it is on 300k. NOW the issue I am facing is the oil level starts dropping after 1500kms and needs a through refill. There is no leakage in the Engine as it was completely checked by the mechanic, no smoke from the engine and engine never got overheated.
Oil Grade I am using is 10W-40 ZIC. PS i never changed the grade because 10w-40 was doing fine.
A friend recommended to change the oil grade to a more thicker version as the car is driven 3lac kms
Kindly suggest what would be the possible reason for the decrease and which oil would be best for the car

keep adding oil when it decreases and keep with 10w40

Last option is 20w50 or to repair the engine kindly concern any expert if u are maintaining it well its cant go like this people are running toyota engines till 500000 km and further ahead on 5w30 oil you were still on thicker side with 10 40 kindly check whats wrong

You were using thick oil which was not recommended and now the car is showing disadvantages of not using recommended oil grade. My Axio X 1.5 is driven 280k kms, it is also reducing engine oil after 2000 kms but my car is reducing 500ml after 2000 kms which is normal. According to Toyota if Toyota car consumes 1L oil in 2000 kms it is normal oil consumption but recommended oil grade. And I am using 10W-30 grade which is the last grade mentioned in owners manual that we can use. I was using 10W-40 since 2013 and my car was consuming that oil too but I switched back to 10W-30. For my car 0W-20 is recommended.
