I want to pore coolant in my GLi 2004 which one would be best i am going for toyota coolant there are two type in market one red cap and other is yellow cap which one is better or i should go for other

The yellow cap coolant (i think) says "50/50 pre-diluted super long antifreeze coolant".
Use this one as pre-diluted is ready-to-use product... just tilt n pour.

And waste your money, half of that bottle is plain water, and to get a 50% mixture in the system you will need to waste some of this new coolant too.

So

Best use concentrate.

How is premix better than concentrate?

Premix is sold for topup only, not service fill.

What you explained is not a coolant failure but a severely corroded system.

Unless you were preparing your coolant with brackish water.

top one is LLC red and is concentrated - you need to add water to it. - its life is at max 4 years.

The bottom one is SLLC and is pink and only sold as premix but has 5-8 year life depending on car.

In either case, you need a full complete flush to make system neat and clean before filling these in. Filling with the red LLC is very easy to get 50% mix. filling with the SLLC on a system that isnt 100% empty means you have to waste some coolant in the end.

I personally would buy the havoline coolant concentrate as its very good stuff and cheap too.

Aoa. i have belta 2007 which was working perfect Alhumdulillah. All of a sudden i realized to open the hood and check water level in radiator. the reservoir was empty and radiator was more than half filled (estimated). I flushed all the water (i have been using tap water instead of coolant for a long time) and poured fresh water . The next day i was going to office and after about 8 to 10kms the meter showed engine overheating sign. i stopped let it cool and then went to the mechanic i know near my house. On telling him he refilled water in the dried reservoir and filled a litre or more in reservoir saying that the air pocket might be created inside the radiator. i drove 15 to 16km and the car started showing heatup sign again. Opened the reservoir cap and the water was boiling inside. I let the engine to come to a certain temperature where i could open the radiator cap and i could see water. I dont understand what is the cause of this overheating. i havent shown to mechanic but i have parked my car in porch till weekend because im just afraid that if it is weak gasket (althought the radiator water never got empty) the water can be sucked by the piston and it could destroy the engine. kindly let me know if anyone expert can help me finding the solution. Find someone who has a pressure tester, have them test the system with 18 psi presssure and see where the leaks are.

Why did you use plain water in cooling system? You thought coolant was money extortion from the manufacturer? Or you live somewhere where you cannot find it or have it delivered?

Ok i will look for it but i think that will only be able to tell about the leaks in radiator if any. As i have mentioned the radiator is not going dry only the reservoir dries after boiling water starts evaporating from it. I feel it might be a clogged radiator or the water pump is jammed...

You are right i should be using a coolant. Lesson learned. As soon as i get it fixed i will add coolant in the radiator

when you apply pressure to the system, you pressurize the whole system which includes the engine and heater core in dashboard.

The radiator is not a standalone unit.

to test for a blown headgasket, go seek the help of a professional mechanic who can test for hydrocarbon or exhaust in the coolant or coolant in the exhaust.

I personally would buy the havoline coolant concentrate as its very good stuff and cheap too.

Now its not cheap. 1 liter costing around 1200 rupees. Secondly I am using havoline in both of my cars but I have heard that it creates crystals in the cooling system and can cause problems. I am also seeing orangish type thing on my thermostat housing in my civic 2000. Should I be worried?

My mechanic also said that havoline is no where near toyota or honda original coolants.
