Use 5w40 by havoline
Corolla Altis 1.6 Model 2011-2014 has 1ZR-FE engine. The same engine is being used in Altis 1.6 11th Generation. Many senior pakwheelers are using thin Oil Grades like 0w-20, 5w-20, 5w-30 and 10w- 30 without having any problem. Since your car is still under 100k km, i suggest you should switch directly to 5w-30 Oil grade rather than 10w-40 grade.@autophile had been using 0w-20 or probably 5w-20 in his Grande (2ZR-FE) without any issues or oil reduction
Pic of oil stick from today morning.
As per dipstick's reading, it is "overfilled" and that is not good for your car's engine.
How much oil is recommended for this engine sir ? 4.7 or 4.3 liters ?
For 1.6 Altis Cruisetonic and1.6 Altis Manual 6 Speed, 4.2 Litres of Engine Oil (Including oil filter) is recommended. Here is the picture from Owner's manual
Oh okay sir, got it thanks.
Here is the Engine Oil level picture of my car after running 5000 km. It is half consumed but still i am not shifting to thicker Oil. If you shift to a thicker oil grade and car runs for few thousand kilometers, it is very difficult to revert to thinner oil because it will burn thin oil.Previous owner of my car was using 20w-50 Oil that is why it consumes little oil as i have shifted to thinner oil. If you are shifting from thick oil grade to thinner one, keep observing your engine's oil levels
As for your above mentioned query, there is no issue at all in changing Oil Brand rather ZIC, Havoline, Shell, Total etc are much better than Toyota engine Oils
Ohh okayy, thank you so much sir
Sir can you please tell me, what change i am supposed to feel in drive etc after shifting to a slightly thinner oil, like havoline 5w 40, and gradually to 5w 30 ?
@Xulfiqar Any guidance about this please? I have tried searching you thread Ask Xulfiqar but couldn't find any relavant answer.
Who told you such?
Always use the correct recommended grade motor oil, its never a bad time to switch to it, and if you experience that your engine is burning oil, then fix that problem rather than pouring a thicker lube and putting your head in sand.
Sir the toyota guys recommend 5w 50. Thats why i was confused.
Brothers, please comment on this query also ,, what change i am supposed to feel in drive etc after shifting to a slightly thinner oil, like havoline 5w 40, and gradually to 5w 30 ?
With the correct oil, your engine will be working its best.
Okay sir, thanks alot for your comments
I have Corolla 2010 Gli driven 91k currently I am using Shell Helix Hx6 10w40 with changing interval of between 3-3.5k kms/1 year. So my question is should I switch to a fully synthetic oil 5w30 or 5w40 or keep using 10w40? Engine is in good condition no sound also doesnt burn oil or maybe very little which isn't barely noticeable. Kindly guide... Thank You.
Switch to 5w30
Does anybody have a pdf of the owner's manual for altis 1.6 2012?
