Toyota Corolla 2016 Speedometer error

It can be due to the wrong size of tyre in corolla by imc.. I have corolla 2005 ff tyre were 14inch and now i have installed 15 inch with a big tyre, when i am on 120 the car is actually on 132 kmh many times got tickets due to it.. .

Yes my City also shows false readings on high speeds.Was worried when I checked it but now I'm relived that every body has this problem

I second that.. i almost evrytime crossed the camera guy at 130+ on motorway never stopped me..

the RPM meter doesnot have this problem. when I got my car checked with Toyota workshop, they connected the testing computer and I asked them to test the RPM meter, it should accurate results but the speedometer showed errors. when computer gave command to speedometer to go to 120, it went to 130 and so on.

Yes I also checked the RPM with scanner, it gives me the same RPM values there too.

did you tried with sygic mobile app? i tried today on motorway with my vitz..from lahore to sargodha and sygic had hardly plus minus of 5 km/h with my speedometer. sometime it tells me exactly same value. one thing should be noted i have 186/65/R15. and default rims are 14".

i have tested it with sygic mobile app on my iPhone and navigation system in-dash, both show same result.

and you have stock tyres? 14" or 15"?

15", same specs as delivered with vehicle by IMC

try with 16". someone in your friends circle who has 16" wheels try on them may be you'll find solution. facelift is coming with 16"..

you are absolutely right. with 16" it is accurate. this is what I have been trying to highlight that this car and its speedometer is optimized for 16" but IMC is saving money and fitting it with 15". but they don't accept this fault of there's otherwise everyone will pressurize them to give them 16" wheel and tyres. I have crossed checked it on internet that 16" was for this model world over and my few relatives have changed tyres and found the error in speedometer gone. I wish IMC accept their fault and compensate individuals.

this is the normal practise in here pakistan. we dont compensate things. compnies learned to put all the expenses all the fatigue at the consumer end. if you remeber i think it was 2009 model carolla which was faulty and company calls thousands of cars back due to some engine fault and here in pakistan. kisi k sir py jun tk nai reengti. it was selling like hot cake. yahan mind set asa ho gya ha k yar jb tk gari bnd na ho jae chlny sy tb tk theek ha blkul chalai jao. coz yahan asy maslo ko masla smjha hi nai jata. even some people will call pagal k yar gari chal rahi sakoon sy chalao.

On a mechanical speedometer, a worn cable could lose its ability to spin the way that it needs to, interrupting the chain reaction process that gives you your speedometer reading.
On an electronic speedometer, a faulty speed sensor could prevent it from working properly. If the VSS isn’t working, your vehicle doesn’t have a way to measure how fast the driveshaft is spinning to calculate your speed. Because it can’t determine vehicle speed, this can also prevent your cruise control from functioning.
