Please correct me if I'm mistaken but looking at the specifications of both engines, I don't see that big a difference in torque. While the 2C is lower in power.

2C-L: 73 hp (54 kW) at 4700 rpm, and torque 97 lb·ft (132 N·m) at 3000 rpm (1)
7k : 80 hp (60 kW) at 4600 RPM and 103 lb·ft (139 N·m) at 2800 (2)
However they both seem like much nices engines than my 4k, 62 hp (46 kW) at 5600 rpm and 72 lb·ft (97 N·m) at 3600 rpm (3)

This is truly my endgame. Driving pleasure. I would've wanted to race it or drift it when I was younger but nowadays all I want is a smooth, capable and functional ride. And I can't get that with my 4k because of lack of power.

Do you have any other engines in mind? Apart from the K series and non-diesel that would be newer and be comparable bolt-ons like the 7k?

3sfe is newer engine with more sensors (100+hp) you may have to modify engine mounts.

Yes, my mechanic mentioned the 3sfe when I made a face after he told me he wanted to swap in a 7k and then further went on to say "magar uss mein kaatna paray ga".

I would love to put in a more powerful and newer engine if fuel economy is around and about the same. Which from reading most posts, is around the 10-12km/l with A/C. I was getting around 8km/l w/o A/C on my 4k. So still seems like a win. Any idea how much a good condition 3sfe is going for these days? 7k if I'm not mistaken is around 50k for good condition.

Also reading around, it seems that parts for the 3sfe are readily available and seems like a pretty reliable engine. How would you rate it's servicability and fixability?

Ke70 did come with 1c plus 2c will have advantage of much much better economy than 7k

Diesels always have lower HP than petrol but diesels mated with taller ratio gearbox gives them good top end

I have started to build our family car Corolla 80. Complete denting painting engine over hauling and interior work. What should be the total estimate. Any guess by the experienced persons in this group?

My car needs complete denting painting due to severe rust on the body specially on roof & floor. Engine needs complete over hauling suspension work required including the shocks. Estimate given to me by 2-3 persons is around 200000. but one guy has given me estimate of 150000.

Ive recently bought an ae70 (almost same as KE70), two door (coupe) toyota corolla SR 1982 and want to change the engine in it, now I dont want too much work on it so please what suggestion you have for engine swapping. 4AGE is a bit too much as want an economical engine, 4AFE is FWD so would need a lot of work any other suggestions ?

Economy of both engines are about same
In 4afe distributor will give you tough time.

4Age and and 4afe having same economy ? Na man not possible at all rafe is very economical had one in a heavy corona let alone a light weight corolla while 4age is gas guzzler suffers from pumping losses on low revs

Bhai same hai both gives round about 11~12 depending on driving style and you know 4age ko aista kon chalata phir ilzam engine ko deta haien.

Ok so 4afe is out of the options, now any other option other than 4age. I do have 4age blacktop in my toyota corolla GT (original) ae111 1998 but for this one (ae70) i need something different and a bit eco. How about a 3sfe, ive seen people installing that too in ke70s.

Yeah S series would be better. But mileage would be same or less probably.....actually all old engines gave about same mileages (except very few).
