Toyota Corolla AC Problems

Salam to All Pak Wheel members, I have a Toyota xli, 2009 model. My car's AC Compressor is no longer operational, the mechanic said he will replace it with the AC compressor of Honda Life (660 cc). Can anyone guide me about this what i should do in this situation?

Then I would sincerely suggest to get it replaced with a similar, identical one, made by Toyota, instead of going for a 660 cc Honda.

I think, all genuine, OEM parts of locally assembled Toyota are available in the markets.

You just need to source them; go to the right shop to buy them, and right person to install them.

Your mechanic does not seem competent, otherwise, he would not have given you such a suggestion.

You might need to replace him with some competent one.

Get 2005 model corolla compressor, domt go for 660cc as they are weak. It gonna cost u 17k

Thank you Basit for your suggestion, the mechanic said Compressor of Corolla old model (2005,2006,2007) is also available but there is no guarantee for that. Moreover, that compressor will put the load on the engine that's why he is suggesting honda's compressor. But honestly, I didn't understand his logic. If my car is 1300 cc then how corolla's old model compressor put the load on the engine because old corolla is also 1300 cc (if I am not wrong)

I would recommend using Original Toyota spare parts brother. Usually, mechanics recommend something else because they don't have your cars original spare parts.

Trust me it has happened to me in the past. They don't know anything about it.
Honda Compressor might be good, but in a Honda car and that's why they recommend using it because they saw it in a Honda, so it's necessary it gonna work fine in a Toyota as well. I would recommend to replace it with the same model you have in your car.

Ammad Niazi Bahi, dont ever do mistake of utilizing compressors using in small 660 cc at your Giant 1300 cc.

In Corolla from 2002 to 2017, complains of A/C compressors are very common & they are very fragile.

After much headache faced personally, what i experienced as well as guide others that instead of using these rotory compressors, scroll type compressors please use Piston based compressors which are repairable + heavy duty and not so fragile.

Although few users discouraged me over this experiment but i found quite successful and replaced whole system by piston based compressor.

Do one thing, buy new (Dabba pack) Sanden 505 or Sanden 507 or Lianden 505 series compressors which are very durable & efficient with complete new setup of Condenser, inner coils, pipes etc.

If you are in Karachi, then visit Bashir Autos & A/C works at Tariq Road and meet Mr. Bashir or his son Mr. Shakeel Bashir which will give you guaranteed solution.(They also have branch in Lahore)

I would recommend that too, I have replaced my sensor-based compressor with a piston one in a Premio and it's working fine for an year so far.

They told me sensor-based compressor don't have a guarantee, but I used it anyway and I am sure they used a compressor which was going to work for a week and then I came back to the mechanic and he told me that they recommended the piston one at first place, so I used piston compressor and it's working fine. But if the mechanic is honest then sensor compressors don't have an issues they just want to make sure you keep visiting them one way or another else I have installed a sensor one in my brothers Axio and it's fine as a branded new.

Yes. You are very right.

Compressor designed for 660 cc car, to be placed in a 1300 cc car; and then further, Honda Compressor in Toyota, doesn't make sense to me.

Yes, actually these new sensor based/ rotory/scroll type etc. are very light and put less Load on engine + also lesser noise but they are very fragile and need regular cleaning(almost preferably on daily basis) of condenser, insulation of a/c pipes, dusting of inner carpet & mats on passenger sides etc. so car which are daily driven + driven by multiple users/drivers etc. are more vulnerable to such compressor failures.

Even a small amount of dirt on external condenser or over radiator cause over-pressurizing of A/C system which in turns put extra load on compressor which in turn leaves carbon in System.

So with poor pathetic road conditions of Pakistan specially in cities like Karachi, Hyderabad , Larkana are harmful for such fragile compressors(Conditions in Islamabad & Province Punjab specially in Lahore city is much better, even some areas of Karachi like DHA, Clifton, Bath Island also lies in same category) but majority of Karachi users have to face and drive on such roads which in turn damages A/C system

That what I was having problems with it, it would work fine for few hours on a smooth road but once there was a bumpy road it would give warning light on a ac button. And then the mechanic told me it's sensor timing problems. But I had to replace it, because they couldn't fix the problem.

I have q questions brothers to anyone who has replaced their corolla AC with old clutch based (2005-2006) AC.
I have 2013 GLi and its compressor is changed. Issue I am facing is when AC is turned on, like after tripping RPM of my car drops to 500 from 800, then go uptp 1600, stays there for a couple of seconds and then come back to around 900.
I find this sudden surge very uncomfortable specially when i am driving in traffic jams. As with this sudden increase in RPM, my car (1600 cc gli auto) tends to move forward.
Can you guys suggest me a solution if any?

I have gli 2012, and the Ac compeessor is replaced with duet's compressor. When i turn on the Ac the rpm fluctuates but keeps below 1000. This rise and fall of rpm is quite disturbing at traffic signals. I'm yet to find the solution.
