Toyota corolla altis 1.6 engine Oil

Hi All,

I want to confirm which engine oil grade is perfect for Altis 1.6 with 27k mileage. Till 0-27k mileage I was using Toyota Taglon 5W-50 but now according to Totota Ravi motors they force me to move from Taglon to Petron plus (SAE 10W-30) and finally I have used Petron plus (10W-30) after 27k mileage. So, Can anybody confirm is this oil is good or not?

Aoa brother I will recommend you to use the grade 5w30.
The quality of toyota petron is good according to my experience.
By the way i use Shell mobil oil.

IMO, 5w-30 engine oil grade will be best suited for your ride.

I have heard that Toyota now also offers 5w-30 engine oil.

If possible, and if you are bound to only use Toyota engine oils, then from next oil change, prefer, and ask them to pour 5w-30 engine oil only.

If after market options are available, and / or warranty is not voided (if warranty is there), then fully synthetic 5w-30 from any of Total, Shell, Kixx, Caltex / Havoline, or even PSO would be best suited. Just ensure that oil is 100% authentic.

10w-30 is not bad (its at least better than 5w-50), but 5w-30 would be best suited.

Actually due to warranty restriction it's compulsory for me to use toyota oil? Also it would be great if you can prefer any other oil. I can think about it.

Bro I think toyota ha only three grades for my ride.
1) Taglon 5W-50
2) Petron (SAE 20W-50)
3) Petron plus (SAE 10W-30)

That's why I've preferred Petron plus (SAE 10W-30).

Could you please prefer any specific 5w-30 oil from market?

You can use Shell or if you want to use the best quality one so try liqui moly.

Priority wise:

1. Caltex / Havoline
2. Shell
3. Total
4. KIXX
5. PSO

Prefer fully synthetic only!

Full synthetic, caltex havoline is a top brand.

10W 30 🤢🤮 why even bother with that shitty grade?? Switch to either 5W30 or 0W20, those thicker Haails will kill your engine.

Dear I won't get in to the debate, but thick oil never kills the engine, as long as its one of the oils mentioned in the owners / users manual.

I have never seen any engine "killed" on using even 20w-50, be it an older engine in Mehran, or a newer engine in PKDM Corolla, as long as oil is authentic, and engine oil + oil filter is changed after regular intervals.

Removing T-Valve, running radiator Fan directly (instead of Auto) when car has even not started, using tap water instead of proper coolant, reviving the engine when it hasn't attained a comfortable operating temperature, etc. actually weaken, and ultimately "kill" the engine in long run.

already seen a vitz engine getting 'killed' on 5w50.

sorry but thick oils aren't meant for any modern engine.

Probably only deteriorated ones blowing thick smoke.

But the engine is brand new! Toyota doesn't even recommend this grade. I meant that heavier oils aren't good, it was rhetorical. Heavier oils will retard the variable valve timing

Dear it was another point, and in particular reference to your post, and not w.r.t. the OP's requirements.

For OP, I have already mentioned and recommended 5w-30 fully synthetic engine oil grade, from 05 different vendors.

If warranty is the top concern, then I would recommend you to go for Toyota taglon x (5w-30 semi synthetic). If you can afford to let warranty go, then I would recommend you PSO carient 5w-30. I personally use this oil and I have switched to PSO from Total quartz. The roughness and loudness of the engine at rpms above 3k, have both decreased. PSO 5w-30 is made up of PAO synthetic base stock.

Assalam O Alaikum. I noticed today that the Toyota Taglox X 5W-30 (Grey Can) that I got for my 1.6 Altis (42K Kms run) from Toyota Islamabad is Semi Synthetic.
Earlier I used to have Taglon (White Can) for my GLI Auto 2019 that was 5W-50 (Fully Synthetic) from the same Toyota Islamabad which they say is discontinued.
I have two questions;
1- Grade 5W-30 is better or 5W-50 for Altis 1.6 42,000 kms at odo.
2- Semi Synthetic by Toyota Lubricants is equally good as Fully synthetic?
