They show me the periodic maintenance chart where it was higlighted to change transmission fluid at 40k KM for Grande and Altis 1.6 etc.

That's for the new 1.6 which has cvt. Yours doesn't have cvt, please tell me they poured in atf and not cvt

Atf runs 80k kms easily. Maybe yours had been exposed or something

CVT is more sensitive but even CVT can run for 60k easily if driven carefully.

40k or early changes is a myth. It is same as people were afraid of synthetics and low viscosity oils. For the same 2NZ engine people recommended (even Toyota 3S workshops) 5W-50 or 20W-50 oils. And now everybody acknowledges that high viscosity oils harm these new engines.

Even in severe driving conditions CVT oil should be changed at 100k kms and that too if you want to keep your car beyond 300k kms or your daily drive is in Kacha area or your driver is a teenager. For people who replace their cars after 2 - 3 years at and around 50-60k kms mileage this expense is useless.

No it's not. You are confusing cvt with automatic transmission. The user manuals clearly suggests replacement after 40k in normal driving conditions

Don't take my intention wrong. CVT oil change at 40-45k is useless and waste of money.

99% of the Toyota CVT gearbox premature failures are due to driver errors, misuse, accidents, or mechanic's mistakes.

Toyota Indus until very recently was advising 5W-50 or 20W-50 engine oil for altis. You can easily judge their calibre.

Globally for Toyota CVT transmissions periodic fluid change is not recommended. Only in severe conditions fluid change is recommended and that too mostly depends on your driving style and not on environment. If pedal to metal is your routine driving style or you are mechanically ignorant or unsympathetic then it obviously warrants early fluid changes.

Sir, you are confusing auto gearboxes with cvt boxes. Seen numerous toyotas with faulty gear boxes. Late oil replacement causing torque convertor issues.
Cvts are very sensitive transmissions and have to be dealt with in a highly careful manner

sir @dayrider to date i believed that auto transmissions are of 3 types Step shift, DCT & CVT. however i found this website article very interesting, another milestone achieved to know other type of auto transmissions. Thank you @HanifBhatti sir every new tumbling post trigger 'to know more'

The website also mentions the same types, with different names. Amt or AGS, is a semi automatic, hence its not usually mentioned among autos.
The thing i learned from this article is iMT, will study up on that
