Toyota Corolla Altis - How to Know the Car is Genuine?

Assalam Alaikum,

I intend to buy a used Toyota Altis 1.8 in one or two years. However, I am a noob here when it comes to car buying.

In one of the posts in Pakwheels, I had read that an owner had modified the exterior of his Toyota Corolla GLI to make it look like an Altis.

So, my question is how can I know whether the car is actually an Altis when buying and not an XLI or GLI? Should I check the engine? If so, how can I know that it's an Altis engine?

GLi/XLi will be 1.3 whereas Altis will be 1.6/1.8.

But how do I know that the car I am buying has a 1800 cc engine?
Will this be written on the engine cover?

Is there any other way I can confirm that I am buying a genuine Altis car and not a rip off?

@pwuser151556960121 Wa Alaikum Salam. Bro, I would suggest the following:

1. @Ashhad4 rightly said that Altis will be 1.6 or 1.8. Do ask the seller to show you all the documents in Original (not copies) if they are not submitted with Excise and Taxation (E & T) Department. Else if, see the registration card of the vehicle (it will also give you some details) and then go to E & T Department and self verify car details like Chassis No., Engine No., registration details, Details of Owner, transfer history, Colour, Engine capacity / cc / horsepower, etc.

2. Do verify Chassis No. and Engine No. They both are important deciding factor and must match invoice and all the registration documents. I think in most of the cases, Chassis No. is embossed somewhere on the body and Engine No. is embossed on Engine. Tutorials / Guides / Videos are available which may help you regarding this.

3. After these verifications, if you are completely satisfied and you intend to buy that car; get the vehicle carsured by pakwheels for your absolute peace of mind Do share your concerns with them (if you have any) and they will guide you in the best possible way.

Bro I do not think that 1800cc will be written on the engine. Engine No. will be embossed and that No. will give you details regarding it's cc or horsepower.

Altis 2009-2011 is 1800cc this one will say vvti on its engine cover and on its registration book it will say 1800cc, and altis 2011-13 is 1600cc this one will have dual vvti engine cover and it will say 1600cc on registration book.
