The domestic model, locally produced Corolla Cross spotted near Karachi, wrapped in blue [ indicating their Hybrid DNA ] with registration # BL-5439 and BL-5400. I am sure many people will soon start spotting these units on road.

In Thailnd corolla cross costs
Petrol variant = 989000 Baht = 8188920 PKR
Base hybrid = 1019000 Baht = 8437320 PKR

For comparison
Honda HRV Hybrid costs in Thailand as follows
979000 Baht = 8106120 PKR
While in Pakistan petrol base variant HRV is of 7899000 PKR now

Haval H6 hybrid costs in Thailand
1349000 Baht = 11169720 PKR
While in Pakistan H6 Hybrid is of about 12000000 PKR now

If above is some clue then corolla cross would be priced from 9million to 10 million PKR at the most.

Launch / booking was scheduled at an 8 digit figure in mid August 2023 for deliveries in Dec 2023 - Jan 2024. It has been suspended and the next pitch date is Dec 2023 for scheduled deliveries around Eid 2024 onwards.

a $30000 vehicle at an 8 digit PKRs figure for a PKDM 1st generation 2023 shape, i doubt if it can make it to roads in a double digit population ever. Cosmetics change has already taken place for 2024 in asean models.

stack up of ready to deliver cars, it may be not far when import of CBU will be more economical then assembling locally, with closure of plant in 2024.

Somewhere I stand by you. A simple 12th Generation Corolla was a wiser option for the Pakistani market.

Somehow Yaris hasn't made its mark 1.6 Corolla still tops numbers.

Selling 2 sedans side by side shudnt be such a biggie for Indus motors

Who ever traded a Corolla Gli with a Yaris was disappointed, not to mention the sluggish CVT transmission.

Indus motors didn't see / forecasted the day they plan Corolla Cross, Kia would be looking at the next Generation Sportage.

Corolla does share a emotional name with everyone. And has been on waiting list world wide.

Let's see how do they do in Pakistan and how does Indus motors reveals it with the 300+ USD Interbank

PS : HAVAL H6 HEV is also making its mark being alot cheaper then the AUDI ETRON and being sitting in between Other CSUVs + the beautiful looks it offers against all other competition.

The ever increasing cost of fuel and dollar rate uncertainty is making people shift towards Hybrids .If they launch it at 10 million it will be a big hit , I'm sure of it.

with chinese automotive manufacturers in action, it is becoming troublesome for Japanese OEM to retain skilled labor. YUTONG Chinese Bus Manufacturer ( Master Motors being their local partner) has sucked away over 500 skilled labor from HINO PAK Bus assembling plant.

I personally believe if scheduled shut downs of 3 Japanes oems become a norm, with salaries frozen at 2022 scale, skilled personnel will be looking here & there for greener pastures.

10 million it will be a big hit , I'm sure of it.

an EV at 10 million makes sense, there are several tax exemptions a buyer can take advantage.

while a Mid Size Cross Over HYBRID of that invoice value is little too over priced, add up registration WHT and insurance its quiet spongy.

Corolla Cross will jump 10 Million mark for sure. Rumors are for even 11 Million. Keep in mind these rumors were when $ was around 285. When open market is trading at 322/325.. interbank going up daily and already approaching 305.. The current for sale models are ready for an increase. Car companies sales are low and they would like to get max profits per unit sold.. I fear 11 million mark for Corolla cross might be true. you never know.. you are close to 12 Million. I hope our perception is wrong. BTW dont forget about interest rates.

It won’t be a flop but you won’t see it as many numbers as a plain sedan either.

10 million n above cars can’t be afforded by a good number of people. Yet there will be a lot of interest in it due to being hybrid.

It’ll dent the sales of Haval H6 HEV plus all other crossovers like Sportage, Tucson, Oshan etc.

Is our govrnment not supporting local assembly of hybrid and electric vehicles? If there are special incentives and tax exemptions for such cars in Pakistan not more but at least at par with other parts of the world then why a car that costs 9.6 million rupees even at 320 dollar rate is likely to be priced at 11 or 12 million. The manufacturer wants to cover all its losses from one product . That would be a rip off . Investors would encourage them in doing so but lets see how people would react to that.

Simple hybrids have better fuel economy only in stop and go traffic i.e. within cities. On the long route of motorways and highways their fuel average is almost the same as of other vehicles. However plugin hybrids (PHEVs) have better fuel economy on long routes as well. But for that you have to have cheap solar electricity and also face the inconvenience of manually plugging in the charger at your place. Still corolla cross is not a PHEV as of now anywhere in the world.

No one is buying the most liked Corolla sedan at 8 million now. Since they are saying 12 million not 10 for the cross then it would be strange if hybrid cross is a hit at 4 million more.
