Absolutely the difference is real. Toyota has been pouring in wrong viscosity oils in pakistan. No where in the world 5w50 is used for 2ZR-FE engine. Honda and suzuki have shifted to 0w20 but these guys at Indus are stuck in the past. Toyota in japan/usa/canada/ are pouring in 0w-16 for all cars nowadays even the older ones.

Till 3000 kms, car becomes a bit more responsive..test again this morning... I don't think there is any point is giving an option to switch off indicator light because light automatically turns if when we floor the car. Sport mode is there but this felt better to me..i will check another car as well once this Corona goes away.. specially 1.6 variant with Eco mode off

I have Altis 1.6 FL 2017 automatic. It is 52000 km driven. I want to ask when should I change the transmission oil? Whether I should change the brake pads front and rear? Although brakes are working fine till now.

It is time for ATF change as well as fuel filter change if not done already. I changed the fuel filter of Grande at 40 k kms and was very dirty due to fuel quality we are getting,

Thankyou.. OK should I get the fuel filter and ATF myself from somewhere and take it to dealership for replacement or get ATF and fuel filter from dealership too. Secondly is it time to change the brake pads both front and rear?

Fuel consumption of 1.8 manual is the best in all trims. Local 9 n 10 kmpl with ac. Local mean driving in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear. Long 15 to 16kmpl if u drive at 100 and 14.5 if u drive on 120 to 140 with ac.

1.3 manual has better fuel consumption than 1.6. So, it is not true that 1.6 returns best fuel consumption figures amongst all trims. Even in local & on long route, 1.8 CVTi has been reported with v good fuel consumption figures than 1.6. Even brother @autophile has recently shared pleasing fuel consumption figures of his FL Grande 2017.

Isn't "eco" just an indicator in 1.6 that you're driving in "eco" range? Does anything happens when it is turned off?

Its just an ECO lamp.
Nothing happens with its turning ‘ON’ or ‘OFF’ atleast in Altis 1.6.

The ‘Eco’ mode on my Civic is different. It alters the throttle response and makes the car sluggish.

In Grande, i can clearly see the rpm response is different eith eco off, so its definitely not just an indicator..sport mode also does the same btw i will further check once i can see the 0-100 reponse eith respect to rpms, so far situation is not allowing me such experiments

ECO in Corolla FL turns off when you floor it hard and take the RPM to around 4-5k, but i have to agree that ECO in Corolla is useless and is just a gimmicky feature that tricks the consumer into thinking that 'he's actually saving on fuel'. But in Civic, ECO actually does have a function and as Ali454 said, it alters the throttle's response and makes the car sluggish. It's been in the Civic since 2012 End when Rebirth launched and is actually functional unlike the Corolla.

True Eco lamp and zone are just indicators that you are driving in a fuel efficient way.

Only in Grande Facelift when you press sports mode button, Eco lamp and zone are gone. So there is a change of profile just like in Civic there are two modes, eco and regular.

About 2 days ago i had this same conclusion as well. Sport mode changes the throttle response for sure..this eco mode is not yet tested properly..could be just an indicator as well. Will comment after thorough testingt though

Mileage of 1.8 is very good. I once went to clifton and overall trip was of 44 kms and the average it gave me was 15.2
