AoA guys. I own a 2019 Altis 1.6. About 12k driven. Today during a random look at the engine, found something unusual in the fan belt. At two locations, observed threads protruding out of the outer surface. Seemed it was only on the surface. No unusual sound while engine idling. I don't think it could b a constant rubbing, otherwise there should have been a continuous mark over the whole length of belt. Sharing pics as well. Tell me how bad it seems. Thinking of getting it checked from dealer under warranty once lockdown finishes. Any idea if all dealers open or only selected ones?

I feel quite desperate for not getting any response on my above post from this nice forum. Kindly just help me out by guiding how emergent does it look by looking at the attached pictures. Should i immediately rush to dealership or it's ok to wait for the next oil change visit in a month or so as where i am, the nearest dealership is atleast 65 kms away. Plz respond

This has to be handled by some mechanic. If you can find some sensible guy in your area show him and if 3S workshop is open, get and appointment and show them. I cannot suggest anything here.

Go for 1.8 manual if u r confused in 1.8 and 1.6 manual. I have 1.8 manual. U get chrome line door handles ,better infotainment system, alloy rims, luggage tray, auto levelling LED headlights ,fog lights, accoustic laminated windshield as additional features. Cvt can never come close even in manual mode to manual transmission. If cvt was that good why there is no cvt in sports cars.

My suggestion would be never to opt for Manual Grande... You will lose a lot while selling it and there is very limited buyer of manual cars.. Trend has changed over all in Pakistan in past few years due to traffic... Secondly Toyotas cvt is the most robust one with hardly any issue if you maintain properly.. It will be even more reliable than manual as many people face clutch plate issue if driven with slight foot on clutch... Secondly you will miss cruise control in manual grande which is really useful on motorway driving.. I believe you are not buying the car to compete in drag races so slightly slow 0-100 doesn't matter

That's the same thing i highlighted...buyer will have to searched hard for manual variant. With traffic and ongoing trend, only a very low percentage of people opt for manual, specially in higher end variant. Cvt has been getting popular dayby day

No doubt manual has its fun but i cant imagine spending so much on a passenger car with manual tranny. I mean unless u want some drag, I don't see any benefit. Cvt...and specially toyota cvt is robust.. at least no complains as such since launch

I have already considered all these points... mera usage motorway py bht km ha... south punjab me use hni ha zada... cvt me masla nai ha koi manual me b masla nai ha koi... chlo agr cvt ki trf jana para tou non grande variant ki trf jao ga wrna manual grande

Best of luck.. if budget is limited then Yaris 1.5 cvt is a good option but don’t consider 1.6 automatic altis as 4 speed automatic is too old and fuel consumption is not good at all... 1.8 cruisetronic is a nice car but you miss important features such as climate control and traction/stability control leather seats and sun roof.. so grande cvt is still the best option if you can stretch your budget... so my suggestion would be to go either for yaris 1.5 cvt or all the way to grande cvt.. in between I won’t consider anything

Recently mainy 2018 grande bohat hi achi rate pe purchase ki hai leken mujhe zara eske bare mai bataye k es mai konsa engine oil pour Kari and also quantity in ltrs and of which grad it should be....aur dosra eski transmission oil kitni arse..KMS... bad change karni chahiyai....... coolant also kitni time bad change kRni chahiye.....

Transmission Oil: For Auto transmission 55,000 km baad.
Coolant: First Change at 160,000 km. Afterwards, every 80,000 km baad change karna chahie, as per owner's Manual

Changed CVT Fluid at 24 months (2 years) or 55,000 km - whichever comes first - don not wait beyond this period or mileage!

If its under warranty, and you would like to keep it under warranty, then you have no option other than to get everything done from Toyota 3S dealership only!

Otherwise, for after market options, following is recommended:

Total Quartz 9000 Future Series 5w-30 only!

4.2L, with engine oil filter change.

which grad it should be

5w-30, prefer fully synthetic, from some reputed brand, meeting latest API SN / SN Plus, and / or ILSAC GF-5 criteria. Of course, oil must be 100% genuine and original in all cases.
