Aoa guys, I am facing an issue in my xli 2019.odo reading is 22k. Day before yesterday I came back from market, dropped my friend at his home and after that car didn't start. It cranked but not started. I tried to start a couple of times with a gap of 10-15min but car refused to start even I disconnect the battery terminal just to reset . Eventually have to left the car there. Very next day I tried to start and it started on first attempt. Went to a local mechanic, he cleaned the spark plugs a sensor (not sure about its name). It worked well for one day but today I faced the same issue. Car didn't start on two attempts. Then I left it for like 15min and it again started. Just wanted to know what could be the possible reasons for this problem.

Can be related to the famous fuel pump failure. Do check with Indus and your toyota 3s dealer if your car chassis fall in the call back campaign for free fuel pump replacement.

Could be related to battery. One or more cells of battery may have become faulty in which case car starts normally when the engine is cold but when engine is warm and car is stopped for few minutes only, it won't start. Get the battery checked and get it replaced if it's faulty.

Problem is that it is not showing any regular pattern. First time I drove for like half an hour, stopped for 5min and car refused to start.next day it started on first ignition.
2nd time car was driven for 40 minutes. I stopped 50 min for some shopping but car didn't start. I tried couple of times and then switched off the car for 5min. After that it started normally.

Yes, it can be. Better to get fuel pump checked too. Toyota has called back all cars manufactured from Jul 2018 onwards. I recently got my fuel pump replaced even though no problem. Better to check if ur car falls in that replacement offer. Even if not, do get fuel pump checked to atleast rule it out

Toyota has a recall for faulty fuel pumps,for cars from Jan 2018 to Jun 2019. Go to the dealership and get your fuel pump replaced if your car falls in this range.

Must be the fuel pump.. Take it to the dealership and let them check.. I fail to understand your car is under warranty why did you take to a local mechanic and let him mess with your car... First thing if you have any issue is to take it to dealership... They know better and won't mess with unnecessary stuff

@joji_887 please share at which stage does your car fails to start:

No crank (battery issue, denmo issue or could be the starter itself)
Crank but not starting (fuel issue: could be pump, could be bad fuel, could be injector (most likely not as your car is newish)

As I mentioned earlier, it cranks but not start. So following work was done on my car,
1: spark plugs cleaned
2: tps sensor cleaned
3: o2 sensor cleaned
4: exhaust system cleaned
5: injectors cleaned
6: feul pump was checked and filter was cleaned (it was found OK.)
Have sent my driver to get the work done so basically have no information how mechanic performed these Jobs.
Now ride is OK. There is no fluctuation in rpm as it was there previously whenever I press the horn or brake pedals..
No staring issue since last two days. Thing that bothers me the most is mechanic said that no error was found during scanning.

Update.
After two days, faced the same issue today. In morning car started normally. But now when I tried to start during lunch break, same issue. Not starting. Will try to upload video of problem.

Please take your car to toyota dealership, as the car is under warranty. There is no need to send car to any other mechanic once the car is under warranty. One buys new car for hassle free usage during ownership backed up with warranty. Once warranty is not being utilised, then whats the point in spending money and time for new car

So, brotherly & sincere advice is to take your car to toyota dealership. They ll not charge you anything except those consumable parts (if needed replacement) not covered under warranty
