Clearance is not an issue in the City as compared to the Civic. The issue at hand is the delayed launch of the new model. You never know What Honda Atlas will do next...They'd either skip the new model or spring a surprise. So, if depreciation is an issue, then yes, Corolla would be a wise choice. I've also been through the same dilemna. I'm currently an owner of a 2009 manual city. I love its drive quality. Heavy traffic during peak hours has forced me to opt for an automatic version. At first, I thought of going for the 1.5 Aspire auto, as it is a complete package, but rumors about the new model being launched next year has compelled me to go for GLI auto. At least your money will be safe, and when/if the new City is launched, you could always sell the GLI and go for the former. But, I can assure you, the comfort level in the Corolla will influence your decision of retaining it. Sure, it won't have the acceleration of the aspire, but that all comes down to personal taste. If the fear of depreciation is a concern, I would resist the temptation of going for the Aspire and opt for the Corolla. In the end, its you who gets to decide which one to opt for. Both cars are good in their own respect.
