Toyota Corolla Hill Drive In Automatic Transmission

Guys can u please guide me.. i want to buy a toyota corolla altis 1.6 automatic. Is it suitable for me as i have to go to long tours on hill stations such as murree naran swat. Will the automatic transmission be troublesome for me? Are automatic cars flop in hill side. Please guide

Automatic cars are better than manual cars in hilly areas. Go for 1.6 Altis you will love it in the mountains.

I have almost always driven manual cars when in the hilly areas. But can vouch that automatics are better to drive especially if you are stuck in a traffic jam while going uphill. Thats a nightmare for a manual car.

Doesnt it take time to gain some pick on a steep path? Or isnt it troublesome to drive on snow or when coming down a hill. How will u gain control of an A.T car while riding downhill

Sir, there is no problem while going up on a steep hill or going downhill. 1.6 is amazing. Guaranteed. The car is comfortable and reliable plus powerful. Go for it eyes closed there will be no problem insha'Allah.

No it does not take more time accelerate.
When coming down hill shift to D3 2 or L as per requirement it will provide good control.

The bigger the engine the better the experience for you. 1.6 is reasonai powered. Manuals are always difficult to drive in uphill areas.and even risky if someone is not an expert driver. Everything comes down to driver but again auto is real fun to drive in such scenario

1.6 should be powerful enough for uphills and some steep roads. Automatic should do just fine even for daily drive.

Not at all. Do not worry.

Just shift to lower gears, like S, B, L, D-3, D-2, etc. (whichever applies and suits the best) instead of normal "D" mode, and you are good to go uphill or down hill. While coming downhill, and on a very steep slope, just shift to the lowest gear.

Using it form last 4 years. Have been to murree, babusir top etc. Alhamdulillah never had any problem. Important is how you drive. If you know well how to drive auto car on hills than 1.6 will amaze you.

No need to stop. You can shift while moving.
Just make sure engine is not on very high rpms.

Rpm of my 1.8 altis cvti never crossed 3-4k while going to babusar top, and even 1.6 won't have a single issue with load. 1.3 struggles at hill side a lot.

brv manual rpm while going downhill from babusar in second gear reaches nearly 5,000 rpm. You can't shift to third gear as speed would increase too much and hence you have to use brakes (and then the brakes heat up)
