Hi Guys, I heard alot about toyota corolla GLI 2003-2005 model.

please suggest the best model according to fuel consumption, maintenance & comfort. Also suggest the price both vehicles (well-maintained).

Toyota Corolla 2004 & Suzuki Swift 2008-2010.

This is a tough comparison because both cars have the almost same fuel consumption which is the major concern. swift is hatchback car but with width body less ground clearance, better brakes hopefully. Maintenance cost is almost same. assuming your budget is between 9 to 12 lac. xli gli falls in the category of under 1.3 and swift under 1.3 to 1.6 for taxes purposes.

If you want a sedan then corolla hatchback then swift, but whichever car to find in better condition should be consider first. You can look for 9th gen SE Saloon or Altis model in this price range.

As compared to corolla swift has better handling and road grip with excellent fuel economy.
Apart from boot space and ground clearance swift is better than corolla.

Cause of hilly area ?

Yes and i have bad habbit of dragging in 1st and 2nd gear till 4000 RPM and skip 3rd gear.
Now my last fill up was 20 litre and i covered 311 km = 15.55 km/l. Mostly driven on long routes.

Long time ago i read about fuel trim pot sensor. Its located near air filter box with "R" and "L" marking on it. R means rich and L means lean. I turned it to toward R and car started knocking and too much petrol smell from exhaust. What i read on internet that when its on R it must trim down fuel supply rather than adding more fuel, but things went opposite. So now its on "L" position and i am loving the economy and throttle response even in 5th gear.

Im also having hard steering. At cold its reasonable but at warm it is really hard. Oil is at the optimum level and no sound is heard while turning the steering.

its located behind air filter box. middle part with hole is the knob. turn it by some grabbing tool or like nose plier gently.
(its a variable resistor connected to ECU so, correct method will be using some CO analyzer and resistance meter.)
I did it on my own risk and i am happy with it.

I have seen this sensor today. And was thinking what should i do now. Mujhey kesey pata chale ga un ki position R pe hai ya L pe ? I nread on internet that the ideal is 14.7. any idea about that ?

I dont think so it works. It just makes oily layer on paint.

First mark the genuine position with permanent paint marker so you can revert back to genuine position anytime. then move the centre knob toward L completely. You will notice smooth idle, better mileage and better throttle response.
In my case; my car is 12 year old now. I observed little bit black soot and petrol smell from exhaust gases. Then i cleaned intake manifold, throttle body, injectors serviced, MAF sensor cleaned, changed spark plugs. Nothing helped. Only thing left was O2 sensor but instead this particular model came with fuel trim potentiometer/AFR sensor. I tried many settings from R to L. Car performed excellent at
extreme lean (L) only. With light foot @80km/h it gives 15+ average.

U can see clean rusty brown exhaust. No more carbon deposits. No more petrol smell.
Even in 5th throttle response is excellent.

When my car dropped average even below to 5km/l. I got everything changed, got scanned, retuned, very thing done. And I faced that issue after changing my auto transmission oil. And its improving from next tank refill, and getting better mileage. its now giving 7+ km/l at the moment. PAta nahi keya masla hua tha. Thora or wait karta ho agar mileage thek na hui tou will try this. ON long getting 14.5 approx with ac speed between 80 to 100km/h. these cars due to their brakes dont allow you to go over this speed limit lol. but for better average i guess itni speed boht hoti hai.

My exhaust has always the same condition like yours and with a proper water throwing. not getting any petrol smell neither. means beats is 2004 auto. 5th gear tou ha he nahi 4 he total gear hain.

Wait for a while. Don't mess with it.
My case was different, i had done everything else and fuel trim pot was last thing left. And somehow it solved the issue.
Next time try Hascol fuel. Octane number doesn't matter but fuel quality. Infact high octane is harmful for our old tech efi cars.
