Aoa PWs, what are your views on Toyota crown 1997 2JZ-GE (3000cc), are these models of crown reliable and what fuel consumption figures can one get from a 2JZ-GE crown... secondly would it be advice to switch from nissan bluebird sylphy 2007 to a Toyota crown 1997 2JZ-GE ?

These crowns are incredibly luxurious vehicles. You'll feel like you're piloting a 747.

Reliability depends on how well they've been maintained by previous owners. There's a whole lot of body electricals that can be easily messed up by the wrong hands. It's built very robustly and things generally don't go wrong unless in the wrong hands.

Parts are available, but rare and charged at a significant premium.

2JZ-GE is powerful plant but slurps up fuel like crazy. With the crown weighing around 1.8 tonnes, you'll be lucky to get 12 kmph on long routes, 7-8 in the city on light foot.

They are incredibly reliable if maintained but the ones maintained by saiths with gutkha ustaads playing around with the electricals are a mess. You have to search for a good piece, as stated by another pakwheeler 2JZ GE gives around 6-8 KM/L in City keeping in mind the heavy body Crown has. To me, the fuel economy is unbearable especially in todays time with petrol being so expensive so not a good daily driver for me. May be it is for some people who can afford the fuel and please be sure to avoid the body changed ones.

Crown is a good car no doubt but unf**king a used one will probably cost you a good few lakhs. Even OEM maintenance parts are expensive.
