Out of 520 Prado J150 ads (2008-2018) on Pakwheels, only 1 is diesel, yes ONE.
Out of 300 Land Cruiser ads (2008-2018) on Pakwheels, NO Diesel. All Petrol.

There is no demand for diesel in SUVs now. IMC is trying to revive a dead horse. Will they succeed? Who knows. All will be clear within a year or two.

Guess what? Drove the new Sigma 4 with 1GD.

The engine is very refined, almost vibration free. There is absolutely no diesel clatter.

Pick up is quite improved. Difference between earlier petrol is like that in GLi auto and Altis. 2.7 liter was sometimes dangerous during overtaking on our roads due to no pick up at all but this does not seem to be an issue with the 2.8.

Don't know about the durability of the new diesel but officially now as per the owners manual oil change interval is 5000kms for the sigma 4.

don't forget that all of these imports are from Japan, which is a low diesel user. Compare your data to Australia, UAE, South Africa, and even Europe, Diesel is going strong. In Australia, at least half of 4x4 sold are diesel, i believe.

There are people who compares performance and value for money and there are some who are worried about selling it before even buying it. The debate will never settle the issue between diesal vs petrol fortuner bcz the end game is totally opposite.

It's counter-intuitive to buy a petrol powered 4×2 off-roader, Just test drive both the vehicles and even still in doubt consult other fellow pakwheelers like @salik990 and @ahsontariq who have experience of owning diesel vehicles unlike other folks here who are jumping to conclusion with no history of diesel trucks/SUV ownership in the past. At the end of the day just buy what you feel fits your requirement.

Australia doesn't even get petrol Prado or Fortuner. We only get 2.8D Prado and 2.8D Fortuner.

Even the Hilux 4x4 here is diesel only...the 4.0V6 was discontinued last year because only 1-2% of Prados and Hiluxes were petrol engines.

The 4.0 V6 is only made in LHD, and it doesn't really have that much more than the Sigma4.

The best equipped Fortuner model is the 2.8D Crusade sold in Australia.

If IMC insists in it's Maintenance manual that Oil should be changed after 5k KMs for Diesel Fortuner , does it mean that the Engine introduced in Pakistan is of Poor quality ?
