The point about the engine, drivetrain etc are most relevant as I’ve had my fair share of issues with DCT in my previous car (Honda Fit GP5). Unfortunately this will take some years to manifest and then get a fix over a generation hopefully, depending on who developed this DCT for SAIC.

These new Chinese and Malaysian Brands are full of features no doubt.
But please all end users have to think wisely. Vehicles are not like mobiles phones with more features.....safety, reliability, durability and after sales (whether from a dealership or road side) all matter a lot more than just beauty and cosmetic features.
IMHO, you should invest ur hard earned money in durable and reliable vehicles, from reputed brands, otherwise it may lead you to huge monetary loss and mental furustration over coming years.
I am not taking side of any company.... just my opinion is go for Brands with International Standing in reliability, durability and decades of experience in engineering.....still not convinced? Then Good Luck to those going for Proton, MG and Glory.

Initially when I bought Fortuner in 2017 it was the charm of a new car but with time when the charm and glitter wore off it was a different case and now I can safely admit: Fortuner is one of the most uncomfortable vehicles I can remember to have owned in my life. The seats are literally like a hard bench and the ride is nothing but jerky on rough surfaces.

In terms of ride comfort Sportage and Fortuner are on a different planet. The seats and suspension on Sportage are absolutely amazing for the term comfort in comparison to comfort offered by Fortuner.

I am saying this out of personal experience of ownership of both Fortuner & Sportage

Fortuner offers other pros but comfort is not remotely close to it.

You got the 2.7 petrol, which has all the discomfort of Fortuner AND a sluggish, dull and zero % involving drive. Maybe if u had settled for the 2.8 D, you could have overlooked its discomfort factor, due to the overall very nice 1GD motor... perhaps diesel was not offered when u opted for Fortuner?

Fortuner is an uncomfortable car especially for rear seats.
But it can
1. seat 7 people
2. can go places a sportage would go in dreams.

Ironically more than 95% Fortuner owners dont buy it for utility.

You can compare them if the SUV is equipped with benches from pak government schools instead of car seats.

I too observed the MG closely and the only 2 good things are interior materials and bells but once you look past that you can easily see hints of substandard Chinese manufacturing at a lot of places specially the body and paint < my observation.

I did notice a rip in stitching on front passenger seat in their display car at MG Lounge in Packages Mall. Also, the liftgate was not opening. I asked them why its not opening, they said that because its battery is dead. It was weird to see a display car in that condition.

Made the same mistake of preferring a new diesel Fortuner over a used Prado. The only consolation is the 1GD engine. If I had bought the gasoline version, would have sold it by now.

If chinese automobiles are not reliable why Hino and Nissan Diesel buses and trawlers have disappeared from roads and everywhere there are Yutong buses, dongfeng and faw trawlers.

Because Chinese are cheap. Simple. Cheap to buy. But their reliability, after sales and longevity are yet to be established. Will take time. 20 years maybe.

Since they revealed Toyota Cross prices, I think now they will be unveiling facelift prices pretty soon.
My guess is that that will keep it higher than cross .. aka Fortuner G will start from 85, I hope I'm wrong.

I have everything already arranged to covert it all to some really good LED bulbs, the DRL/parking(T20 7443 double point LED) , Fogs( photum H11) , and the Low/High ( BI LED 2.0 9012).

And later I will get it facelifted visually from market , i guess even legender facelifts will be available

dont convert into FL fortuner, just get the Legender conversion which is much better than the FL version.
