if you love photography and need a 4x4 plus a brand new machine with a huge sunroof and into not spending much.... Vitara GLX with panoramic roof is the best option for you... You can snap a 2017 under 10000km driven new machine around & below 30lacs... And trust me you will love every bit of it. For the rest of the money wait and get Turbo ultra Carnelian Red-pleasure ultimate .. Life will be sorted - budget 63 lacs in total.

Wait even a year or two and then upgrade to TRD 4000cc Fortuner which will be the real deal.

I too am in a similar dilemma. I'll also be using this for occasional family trips and occasional outings.

I really love the diesel option as far as the specs go. However, my only fear is that what kind of different maintenance will it require from petrol and how rough or loud-sounding the diesel will be. It will be a family hauler so being smooth and not too loud is important for me.
I will most probably take a test drive of diesel otherwise petrol it is.

can you give some review about it how you the found the car overall? hope there is no khar khar which one expect from suzuki but not of this price used swift back then it was a great car really loved it the gears engine rev everything but khar khar rattles just destroyed its great flavor.

I purchased it from Multan.. drove it back to lahore.. found it quite comfortable and capable..
Sound of engine.. revv.. driving controls.. its grip over the road.. everything is perfect in it.. driven suzuki ages ago.. there is no khar khar in it at all.. hungary made imported vehicle.. i might say suzuki put their best in vitara.. small size mid range SUV with Range Rover's like comfort and accessories.. pick is so good.. currently im driving Surf 2003 petrol and Mazda RX8 triptonic with paddle shifters (now im selling both for fortuner).. vitara is too good combination with them..
On multan highway.. i drove comfortably and satisfied.. very smooth driving.. its paddle shifters are quite responsive.. cruise control is very effective.. it gave me mileage of 13.5kmpl on multan highway with lots n lots of brakes and fast overtakings and for 2-3 hours Ac on. Currently its giving me 12.8kmpl in city. Its perfect in this valuable money. Really loving it so far..

I have been following this thread for a while now. And i see many concerned with diesel. I have owned many diesel vehicles and am currently using a 3rd gen Pajero 3.2 Did.
Maintenance: The oil change is more frequent and the fuel filter needs replacement at every 10k, the rest is no issues
Usage: It requires a bit more care than petrol, needs to be warmed up before usage, and due to our diesel, needs to be floored every now and then so that no dirt gets stuck in the system.
Advantages: The turbo kick is amazing, the torque is unbelievable, And i can go through bonnet deep water without worrying. Also, the fuel economy is a lot better than petrol.
Disadvantages: Needs care(as stated above), and lack of proper technicians for it.

What do you mean by "needs to be floored every now and then"??

Well according to the mechanics, in order to be on the safe side, you need to give it the beans off and on to clear its fuel system in case some junk or residue might be developing in the fuel line or the injectors etc.
I frankly never faced such an issue because i am sort of a throttle happy fellow

BMW X1 1.5 A/T (around 62 lacs) vs Fortuner 2.8D 4x4 (around 64-65 lascs includigg reg and WHT). Which one should be preferred?

X1 at 62 is not worth it. It doesnt look like an suv and ride is bit hard too.
