You should be

They're fine in revo and vigo, because these trucks are "rough and tough" so the vibrations and khr khr noise is bearable. They're also in the 4mn range, as opposed to 6mn+ for prado/new fortuner

But when you consider SUVs, diesel was a good choice back in late 2000s when diesel was cheap, so people had the option of going for diesel LCs (commonly known as grand cruiser locally) or petrol variants (Cygnus or v8 LCs old shape).

Now consider how many diesel LCs you'll find in Pak today in new generation.

Also, "milawat" in our available diesel fuel can be a curse, which will either cause engine problems (engine back maargya) or injector cleaners will need to be used religiously.

My ownership Experience with the Fortuner.
Exterior:-
The exterior looks sharp and aggressive.The stretched out drls and back Led lights look fantastic.Sporty allows and sleek roof rails.Loads of Chrome.Chrome door Handles and Shark Finn Antenna all look fantastic.Its narrower and lower than Prado and Land Cruiser.But is actually longer than Prado.But IMO the design on the Fortuner looks way more attractive, Futuristic and stunning on the Fortuner than Prado or Land Cruiser which just look more old school and more boxy with their lights and Shape.So IMO the Fortuner gets 9/10 for it's exterior.
Interior:-
The interior also matches the exterior it's beautiful and improved from previous generations.Chamois(rust) really rocks with black.But what I really was impressed from was the quality of the materials.I own 2JDM cars Vitz and Premio.But in comparison Fortuner a PKDM beats both of them.The leather and contour sticking adds a soft touch to the cabin but then again there are some plastics.Glossy plastics are also used which add to the beauty.But I would have loved more cushioning in the seats.Cool Box and Electronic 4 by 4 are great feature in the interior and the AC works really well.
Performance:-
If ur driving on eco mode the car does feel underpowered but The PWR increases the throttle response and then it feels fine.Do remember the car reaches its full potential after 5000 kms so as the car gets used it's performance increased.Now it does not feel underpowered.Paddle shifters and S gear can Increase performance Significantly overall better than previous generation.In comparison the Prado weighs 80kg more which results in less towing capacity and less responsive acceleration than Fortuner.

In total the car cost me 5.85 million incl taxes and registration.
Overall was greatly impressed The car feels good in the inside looks good on the outside But these features must be in the uplift(VSC,Smart entry and start and powered tailgate) but overall still Incredible value for money as compared to Prado.In the same price u can get a 2010 TX Prado which lacks basic features performs bad and doesn't look appealing.My recommended budget SUV.

this new diesel 1GD got less sound/noise compare to 3.0 1KD, as u know i drive current Revo 3.0 from last year n used to own Thai Vigo 2.7 which was soundles/torque-less but m used to with diesel noisy sound and its so much more fun than petrol 2.7 engine. 4.0 V6 will be great additional as i had Prado 4.0 V6 too which was powerful with good mid-end torque but the cost will go further upto 6.5m i guess, if i had to choose between V6 and this new diesel 2.8 i ll go for diesel due to better fuel consumption with more torque. Diesel is slightly better than last year, they brought down PPM to 500 as before it was 5000ppm, as u see why Toyota Indus opted for new diesel engine this time now. I hope diesel will get more better to euro 3-4 with 50ppm.

Its good to know that the 1GD is more refined than 1KD in terms of sound/noise. I am driving the PKDM Vigo, and am not bothered by engine sound any longer. In fact, I was driving a civic the other day and had to repeatedly check if the engine was running..haha.
While the diesel will have better feul economy, most of the gains are offset by more than double maintenance costs.
The torque is much higher though.

Can you please elaborate what you mean by "more than double the maintenance costs"?
I understand oil changes are more frequent and perhaps fuel filter expense. What else could there be?

Oil change frequency is 2500km for diesel vs 5000km for petrol. Thats 2 oil changes in diesel vs one in petrol engine. Oil filter is recommended to be changed at every 2nd oil change, but i change it with the oil.

Oil capacity of diesel engines is bit more. About 7.2 Ltr in 2kd ftv engine (2.5 diesel) vs 5.5 ltr in 2tr fe (2.7 petrol).

In 1GD engine (2.8 diesel), oil capacity is abt 8 ltrs.

Values of oil capacity might be off by 0.3-0.5 Ltrs, but you get the idea.

The problem is I thought Fortuner had Active Traction control which made it feel safe to drive but after reading this thread I feel bad.My other two cars Vitz 2012 and Premio 2009 are not equipped with traction control but I have not experienced any problem.But since this thread is saying that without VSC And Traction Control it is VERY DANGEROUS I just want to know will I be fine in it.I have driven 2000 kms and have had no problem.

active traction control and VSC and other features don't really matter much if you drive within cities. but it can be dangerous for offroad conditions for example my neighbours park in basement lawn so they have to climb a floors height and a lot of times i see their wheels spin because no traction control.. i believe indus shouldn't have launched these vehicles without these important basic features in the first place.

Yeah but what if I drive in cities mostly and sometimes on a long drive even sometimes in rain(if I drive carefully) should I be concerned and also should I use 4×4 during rain? I really am not into the offroading thing alot but like it in urban style.

yeah allright i don't think you should be concerned then.. just drive slow and incase if you feel the tire spin on slippery roads due to rain.. always use light throttle when launching the car to make sure the power gets delivered to the road.. i guess thats the only manual way of keeping traction of wheels with the road.

secondly
1. driving daily on dry roads and cruising on highway in normal conditions: always use H2 (2 wheel drive-High) to get good fuel economy for long drives.
2. for light offroad tracks at high speed driving or on wet roads (rain/mud/snow/ice) : i suggest use H4 (4 wheel drive-High) for better traction at high speeds.
3. Only for offroad conditions like climbing uphill, going downhill, passing through a river/stream or going through rocky/sandy roads at slow speeds: always use L4( 4 wheel drive-Low) to get maximum power and traction.
