Diesel Produced in any refinery in Pakistan is euro 2 compliant. PSO also imports same grade as well. You only need to avoid Irani Smuggled Diesel available in few parts of Karachi ,sindh , sounth Punjab and all Baluchistan. Toyota and Suzuki have better understanding of local fuel situation hense vehicles are compatible accordingly. Honda , on the other hand pushes for innovation (which is good indeed) but misses the local conditions for instance fuel quality, road clearance etc.

Why are u so against new diesel engine?? Since u know unichip ppl, you shud ask them how much diesel quality has improved since last 2 years as u know they r the best diesel engine tuner in Pak. I m sure Toyota Indus has done researched from last 2 years before introducing new diesel engine as first they were skeptical bout diesel quality thus they brought Revo with old 1kd engine but so far all 1kd/2kd running fine. I hope this new diesel 1GD engine wont be problem for us in future.

People have a perception that diesel engines are high on maintenance cost but in fact in modern diesels it is not.

Although it depends upon fuel, air and oil quality as for all engines including petrol.

1GD is definitely much more sophisticated and technologically advanced as compared to 2TR in petrol fortuner. This could be its advantage as well as disadvantage. I always prefer better technology. People may differ. In case of fortuner if Toyota had somehow offered a turbocharged small capacity petrol engine like BMW's and Audi's offer in their cars then I would have advocated those. But sadly Toyota has no such engines.

This is a turbocharged engine in which turbo charger is 30% smaller than its predecessors whilst being more powerful.

There is in New toyota auris 1.2T and in smaller compact SUV Lexus nx200T 2.0T and this same engine also shared in Lexus IS200T.

The petrol engines use a very different setup...they use single-geometry turbochargers.

The 1KD and 1GD engines both use larger variable-geometry turbos

Actually they do, but most of Toyota's turbo engines need RON95. There's the 8AR-FTS 2.0T in the Lexus NX300 (aka NX200T), IS300 (formerly called IS200T), GS200T, RX200T

Also, Australian-spec C-HRs come with a 1.2T engine

No DPF in local 1GD. confirmed. It's only EGR which is additional.

Regarding bringing new technology into Pakistan, Indus is always cautious or rather I should say lazy. But this is a blessing in disguise since it avoids issues similar to Civic turbo. This is the reason I hope 1GD despite being new generation, will not fail in local conditions i.e., dirt, adulteration, water, and sulphur etc. in local diesel. Cheers,

Yep, What I meant was the SA, AU and NZ spec vehicles do have DPFs and that could affect the published fuel recommendation for those countries.
