See ... you fell for IMC's trick, they didn't announce the price nor their dealerships had any idea about the price. Most of the dealers were saying around 5.5-6 million. Now they priced it a little less and everyone is happy keh shukar hai 6 million toe nahi.
So everyone should tell them the price is high. That's how they will listen!!! I think we still have Lahore and Islamabad launch so we might still be in luck.

Yes, they were asking everyone coming out for feedbacks, but the lady writing was taking one line notes, leasing/cash. Test drive, would you buy... My honest opinion was that it was priced okayish because it was rumoured around 5.5+ but still 5.5 is a very big amount and yes prado and surf are in the market... Lets wait till it's started being delivered

Update: It's official that IMC hasn't finalized price yet and the launch shows are meant for customer feedback on various aspects including price. Lahore launch isn't on Feb 23-24 but probably on March 1st (not 100% confirm). So everyone going to launch show must show their reservations on price and tell them it should be below 4.5m.
Today I argued with a dealer because he wanted 1 million advance for booking. He also said 5.5 million mein app ko brand new Prado nahi mil sakti. I told him have you ever driven a Prado? Do not compare Fortuner with Prado in luxury, ride, comfort and options. He didn't have an answer. I told him yes it's new but you can not compare Liana to Civic. Brand new is no criteria.
So far 2 dealers have asked for 1 million advance for booking. I refused to pay so should you without seeing the car or knowing final price. They are testing how many fools are there who would pay anything to buy this thing without knowing the final price.

Toyota Central motors is a major dealer in karachi, maybe the best dealership of Karachi, so the figure they gave me yesterday is quite creditable. That means 51,79,500 is quite an actual price figure.

If it goes down further it would only be good.

Yes, may be they price it just under 5 million after all the feedback. My guess would be 49,79,500. It's hard that they will now price it around 4.5 million but we should all be vocal about high price and tell dealers about it too. IMC also knows if it was 6 million they would hardly see any sales.

few of my friends n cousins went to PC hotel on 16th Feb launched.....they like it a lot but the price is too high....i told them price shud be around 4.4-4.6m but its 5.2m......i think ppl will still buy as u see new shape prado 2700cc cost above 85lacs n old shape prado till 2008 cost 65-70lacs fresh imported....so just wait for proper launch n i hope they will reduce the price

I wish it was glorified! I used to own Escalade and Navigator in the US. Even Land Cruiser and Range Rover are go carts in front of those trucks.

There's no comparison between Fortuner and Prado. These are 2 different category SUVs. We need to compare apples to apples. If we have to spend 5.7 million (including registration and luxury tax) on Fortuner then it's simply not worth it. I would prefer to spend 6 million on 2006-2007 Prado instead.

A 'truck', the way i see it, is short for 'pick-up truck', which is what the Fortuner is based on. In other words, the Fortuner is a glorified Hilux. Too much money for too little substance, IMO. On a different note however, I'd wouldn't buy an American automobile even if it were my only option, especially their full-size SUVs. They're tacky, barge-like, handle terribly, and thirsty as eff. I'd rather a Fortuner than an Escalade/Navigator, though I know I'm comparing apples and oranges now.

Did you or any other people give any comments on price to sales representatives or did they ask your feedback on price? All of us here going to launch ceremonies should at least tell IMC that it's priced high and give them proper arguments. May be they will listen to us.

I visited as well on 16th, yes price seems okay to me as well, the design cues are quite modern not like 2002 designed Prado. Good enough chrome and compact ground holding design. I think @kala_shah_kaku wait for Lahore launch or whatever they call it sneak view, then honestly give your comment. Maybe you're not the target market.

Thai price is 1,264,000 bhat of 2WD 2.7L which becomes very high. you can do quick math 1,264,000 x 3.29 rs/bhat x 1.325 (32.5% duty) x 1.16 (16% Sales Tax) = 6,400,000 PKR. I think very nice move by IMC. I saw people were liking it very much. Saw no one complaining about price.

By the way why are we justifying or fighting over the price? When the car prices in Pakistan are probably 8-12% higher than India, Thailand and UAE then why is there a difference of 20-25% in Fortuner pricing? They should price it reasonably and fairly.
We are factoring in the registration cost but I think luxury tax will also be applied. I don't have exact knowledge of it but can someone find out if we have to pay Luxury tax on Fortuner?

u r not getting my point....most ppl here think brand new is brand new....they have money to buy old shape prado or this brand new fortuner so most ppl favour for brand new car over 7-8 yrs old model....m not saying i wont buy prado...i ll def go for prado but 2008 model or 2009 new model if i can afford but those ppl who cant pay afford more than 55 can opt for fortuner....i myself own 2004 model markx and 2008 thai vigo n i prefer these cars over local made car any day but fortuner has surprised me

If I am not the target market then IMC would find fewer buyers. I have been waiting for Fortuner for 6 months and if I didn't know about it I would have purchased 2008 fresh import 6 months ago. I wanted a brand new car so I waited. My argument is that the price has to be fair. If you are spending the money you should do it wisely and see if it's worth it. Close to 5.7 million I don't see it's worth. One of my friend imported 2008 Prado for 6 million in December, 2012. There are many people like me who would do the same. However, if it's priced around 4.2 million I won't even think twice before buying it. The other thing is that 4.2m and 5.2m is totally a different market segment and IMC needs to consider that. 5.2m guys can jump and go for Prado but 4.2m people won't. That segment is available and IMC needs to grab that.
Do you have a reference or website of duty structure on cars so we know 32.5% is right duty for locally assembled cars. Based on your calculation IMC would be loosing 1.2 million on every car. Let's assume IMC makes 1 million profit (which I highly doubt) on each Fortuner they will still loose 2 lacs on each car. They still need to pay dealers some commission. No company would do that. There's more to this story.

Yes, how many of the people who visited launch were buyers? Jo loog ziaday *** hoon *** they must be super rich or investors. Super rich nay LC say nechay nahi aana aur investors don't care what public demand is. They simply want return on their investment and they will get it initially. Fortuner k launch ka toe kisi ko pata he nahi hai. IMC won't know about actual sales until they publicly announce it and at that time it will be too late to reduce from 5.2m to 4.5m Phir Ads chalian gaye keh imported gari na lain local lain

Since I am a business man and if I am launching a new product I would price it a little lower, may be at break even to see how market responds. When I have the sales I want and demand is still on the rise I would jack up the price. Don't know why IMC doesn't understand this thousand year old rule and tells consumers that they will price Fortuner at 6m and then asks them how's 5.2m? Of course everyone would be happy

See there's the logic behind it that I have been talking about. In Thailand there is a difference of only 4.5 lac? Why? Only because they want more sales and they want to serve the market segment we are talking about but here in Pakistan IMC only wants to serve a very rare audience not masses.
