could be as theres 2.7liter fortuner available in Thailand n Malaysia....theres 2.5 d4d vnt turbo intercooled which is 140bhp i think

I don't understand why the Malaysian market fortuner has a 65 litre tank. Everywhere else the 2012 model has been upgraded to 80 litres. I hope we get 80!

Can someone actually confirm if this is true? I have been holding back buying a good/new SUV and I first heard that it will be priced around 4 million. Anyone with some insight?

Guys Fortuner and Hilux both are same in all aspect same design, engine, chasis and shape only Hilux do not have Roof (Rear) and Fortuner has.

And indus is already assembling Hilux in Pakistan so they do not have to invest any Rupee on Assembly Line they will just add Roof on Hilux Body and it will be Fortuner.

For example (It is same like Bolan And Ravi case)

yes but the prob is 2.5 d4d turbo non-intercooled 100hp will be underpowered for fortuner as its will be more heavy than hilux champ....even hilux champ is lil underpowered....if they wud add vnt turbo with intercooler on this same 2.5 d4d it will be 135-140hp but the prob is our diesel is euro 0 while these engine is Euro 3 n Euro 4....i think it wud be better if they bring 2.7liter vvti petrol engine

Not really, Fortuner is part of the toyota IMV project which includes Trucks, SUVs and MPVs. They only share the same platform and some parts. The engine is also shared, but that is shared with many other toyota vehicles - Prado, Surf/4Runner, Innova, Hilux/Tacoma for 2TR-FE and 1KD atleast. The major difference in the two is the suspension.

Having said that, you are right to say that Indus will benefit by producing this locally, given that many parts will be interchangeable and reduce their cost for such.

The question still remains ... are they actually producing it or are these all speculations? There is no point in discussing engines or parts unless it's confirmed that they will be manufacturing Fortuner here in Pakistan. And if they are then what is the release date and price.
I believe dealers are very well connected so they should know what's going on. Does anyone have any connections to confirm this?

Yes its correct....Pakistan assembled fortuner will be available from the next year...confirmed by IMC! And Most likely Pakistan variant will be with 2.5 D4D and 2.7 VVTi grades (to be announced)

Well ... I talked to 3 Toyota 3S dealerships here in Lahore and everyone gave a different answer. One said it will be released in Oct-Nov, the other one said early January and the 3rd one said 2nd quarter of 2013. Looking at Toyota's track record I think they are still thinking about it and it will take at least one year to start production of Fortuner. There are two reasons for that 1). They recently released Vigo Champ and even if I was Toyota I'd want to sell as much as I can before launching another model which is more or less the same category car and will threaten sales of Vigo. 2). Economic conditions of Pakistan coupled with upcoming elections. Toyota will wait until the new Government settles and the first budget is announced to see what policies are made. So my guess is, we won't see Fortuner until the end of next year.

You were right if a new plant was to be installed, Here Coure and Vigo are assembled on the single assembly line. Plus for the Forturner they just need to change the body, The chasis imported is similar, And Since Vigos body is also probably iimported as CKD, So just importing price for the fortuners body might go up.

I doubt, If toyota sold a hand full of Fortuners they imported. But looking at the size of Fortuner if they manage to build it upto japanese standards, Pakistan has good market for it.

Another reasons for Fortuners sales might be the "The Vigo's Wadera image" Not many families buy it with the concept associated, "Vigo lee to koi peechei per jaega". Altho Vigo is doing okayish with sales (selling as expected by Indus)

Do not need to make wild guesses there is interview of pervez ghais already floating on the Bloomberg in which he clearly said that Indus will launch Fortuner by march 2013. If it is not correct then ask him or IMC. Chill now

Locally assembled Fortuner will outclass the JDM SUVs and compete with Sigma Motors Land Rovers. which have pushed out toyota from Pakistan military services since 8 years. Fortuner has comfort of Prado and muscle of Vigo with folding bench seats in rear deck

Im not sure about how much would that happen, But yes their is a market for people would leave the used SUV's to buy anything new. Another reason why Q7 is selling in good numbers.

Btw, The Old Prado Landcruisers are still being made and imported for the milatary/Army.

The Fortuner or Vigo are not hot cakes and not gonna sale as compared to sedans but personally speaking I won't mind purchasing a Toyota brand new (7 or 6 seater) SUV for under 5 million (I wish the price of fortuner at launch) considering my family size though I still don't like Vigo due to its back open at rear.

Toyota LCs are only IMPORTED from Thailand for NAVY & AIRFORCE - Indus is slashed out from the deals .. Land Rover DEFENDER Soft & Hard Top is standardised PAKISTAN ARMY vehicle since 2002, Toyota Land cruiser lost the battle.

For the Fortunner price C&F price is US$22750.00 for 1st batch Thai land assembled landing /clearing after eid. sharabhi can confirm landing from car carrier at PICT based on current exchange rate carefully i can say launch price will be under 5.8 mil but by 2013 March it will slide up to 6 mil being affect of currency exchange rate chinyoti is right.
