you are right but what about price reduction due to localization of some of the parts...as it will be a local assembled version..or they won't do any localization of parts?

What is the case with Vigo...are its some part local made or imported...I can understand most of the Vigo parts are imported..but not all?

All the dealers I have spoken to are confirming March, 2013 for Fortuner launch. The price they are saying, will be around 4.5 million with petrol engine. IMC has stopped importing Fortuner as per dealers. In my opinion if the price is over 5 million noone's going to buy it. People will prefer buying used 05-06 Prado.

Ok I asked the Toyota Islamabad owner and he confirmed about local assembled Fortuner launching next year first quarter with 2.5 vvti petrol having 2-3 trims starting from under 5 million ...

So I saw Fortuner a couple of times on roads of Lahore but I must say I am not very thrilled by the shape and overall outlook of the care. It doesn't stand out like Prado or Land Cruiser. Even Vigo Champ looks better shape wise. So my question is who is going to buy this 4.5-5 million car? Stand up and be counted!
I am my self 50 50. I will have to look at interior to make a decision but I think if Toyota keeps the price at 4 million then I will surely buy it.

Its obviusly not made to outrun Prado, and LC, its just bigger then the Harrier altho not as luxurious maybe.

About the target market for a 6 million brand new SUV?

People who buy brand new Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic over used JDM cars would buy this no matter what, Brand new is new weather local or imported. The satisfaction of not visiting a mechanic for 3 years in all one needs.

its gona be a big hit with armed forces, govt & ngos. heard jan 2013 expected but ppl say loads will be a diesel and petrol engine prices varies but below 50 lakhs! heard it fro toyota islamabad!

Toyota has re-started running TV Ads for Vigo Champ. Looks like they want to clear current stock and want to sell as many Vigos as possible. Noone will be buying it after Fortuner is launched except for Guard duty

Bhai hum chand pe nahi ja rahay na he hum nay yeh SUV ijad ke hai. We are barely going to assemble it so there is no achievement. Don't be excited, it's not gonna make a huge difference!

Just saw a brand new white fortuner in Y-Block DHA, Lahore. Have they started testing it or some privileged people got delivery? Any idea what's going on? By the way it looked hot in White.

Visited two Toyota dealers on Saturday and talked to their Sales Managers and they were both clueless. All they said is it will be launched in March-April and the price will be around 5 million. You can tell by looking at their faces that they have no idea. They said the same thing in September that it will be launched in Dec-Jan. If Toyota Pakistan CEO himself had not given March launch date I wouldn't believe these dealers.
