Toyota Hilux 2012 - Thai Import - Turbo Whistle

Hi Everyone

We have a Toyota Hilux Vigo 2012 from Thailand, imported in 2014.

Model: KUN26R-PRPSYT
Engine: 1KD-FTV

The turbo has started to make a strange whistling noise. Had it checked by a mechanic and he recommended a new turbo. Toyota Ravi is asking for four hundred and fifteen thousand rupees with a wait period of 10 days.

I have some family visiting from UAE in two weeks time and they can bring it in the luggage. But there is a confusion because when I enter the VIN number, two turbos are coming up:

A: 17201-0L040

B: 17201-30110

I have attached the link to the website. It is saying that if the engine number starts with 7xxxxxxx then it is option A and if it starts with 8xxxxxx or 9xxxxxxx then option B.

I looked at the engine number in the Hilux and it 1KDU016768.... which is neither the of the options.

I suppose we can the take the turbo out and check the part number on it but me being lazy this seems like an easier option to ask the PW members.

Made in China turbocharger for 1Kd-ftv costs around 35 k from the local market, and it is quite reliable.

Thanks. I will make an inqury about the chinese turbo. Do you have any experience with them or if someone has installed a chinese turbo, if they can share some of their experiences.
