Public transport has many plus points. But in Pakistan, motorcycle transport is cheap. Public transport is not viable until you make either motorcycle transport expensive or public transport cheap.

Public transports major concern is declogging the roads at peak hours. WIth your suggestion - we should import more and even more vehicles and put them on the roads because "cheap". is that right? Have you ever been part of a large scale development process? or even studied history?

When govt. makes vehicles expensive by imposing taxes. This in fact gives incentive to keep old Bedford trucks or used japanese cars on the roads for even longer periods. Cheap fuel prices encourage use of prehistoric technologies as well like 70 cc motorcycles or mehrans.

In my personal opinion, the much better ways to tackling the issues are i) increase fuel quality even if it means increasing its price, ii) make harder for people to run older vehicles on roads by reducing prices of new vehicles and by tightening vehicle inspection rules (people will benefit from more efficient vehicles with new technology by savings in fuel and maintenance costs)

Higher fuel prices will probably make public transport viable too.

reducing prices of vehicles? - when you have morons with love of jenyan paint asking ridiculous amounts of money for cars that were bought decades ago - 1998 civic sold for 700K back then by common rationale they should be worth less than 70K PKR now - can you show me one such car?

and the global currency is USD, right now Pakistan rupee is literally trash compared to it, so the only way to make the cars cheaper is to ask the govt to provide a subsidy on car prices and remove all tarrifs on its materials and also imported assemblies.

Im not quite getting this. you are recommending fuel quality increase which will somehow reduce traffic, and then recommending people be able to buy new cars by making them cheaper than what the manufacturer sells them globally. Have you weighed these points or just arbitrarily dreamt them up?

like how would you like to implement the above and how would we see the outcome? Ministry of Transport? local town/tehsil office? - (btw remember the old enercon stations, they were providing exhaust analyser services - but people didnt visit - because local ustaad putting his nose to the exhaust was much better and cheaper and more accurate according to those car owners) - its been tried and tested before - awaam is just too damn stubborn and stupid to agree.

But what will happen is that as soon as fuel prices will rise it will cause the rise in price of everything related to transportation...

Poor people will be forced to stop using vehicles...
And many will even start starving...

It will create an inter-country unstablity...

On the other hand when imported vehicle prices will be reduced it will create an hick in imports causing gdp decrease and eventually currency exchange rate decline...

What i think is that only solution is to introduce public transport... and reduce imports by introducing taxes not only in vehicle sector but also on other luxury goods...

Another addendum was that the bonnet lock cable was jamming and deemed farigh too.

While in reality OP forgot that when such trucks are used off road the bonnet lock and cable is cleaned and lubed in regular intervals. (I even remember reading it on ancient mercedes gwagen and even ancient land cruiser owner manuals)

Petrol will be 160+ per liter soon, it has to be at Rs.200 limit on or before financial budget 2022-2023 is presented.

by that theory we shall see less traffic of 4 wheelers and huge number of 2 wheelers around any corner. a fleet of huge buses as public transport at subsidized fare ??

however it will not slash / curtail buying vehicles on premium, by any means.
