I regularly see supplier or assembly issues in all makes and models of vehicles here, whether the actual car came from japan, korea, germany china or locally.

Prius came in with dead cluster, brand new car off the truck. 4runner came in with literally a rattling swaybar. Corolla hatch delivered with defective headlamp assembly, literally bad casting of the plastic.

Kia vehicles delivered brand new off the truck with leaking hoseclamps on thermostat housing, modules fried or dead due to bad grounding connection bolt/nut (Seen lots of toyota/nissan/mazda) with similar issues.

Range rover autobiography missing clear coat on one side of vehicle.

At this point of time, i expect anything. Brands dont matter.

Point is, the warranty is provided for these issues. If you want a car that has all these addressed then buy used.

Dollar rate has nothing to do with cars. There is zero dollar saving due to these car assemblers.

Pakistan's biggest imports are petroleum and food items.

Reason why dollar price increases is less exports. We should think about value addition and increasing exports. Value addition into the products where we can add value. These are definitely not cars. There are only 5 or 6 countries in the world which have car industry. Even UK have no big car makers. They are not stupid. We do not have the economy of scale neither we have the engineering and quality so that we can export the local assembled cars. This whole protection to car assemblers is a scam. Same as sugar mafia. We have been looted in the name of our patriotism (be Pakistani, buy Pakistani) for years now.

Regarding quality or rather bad quality of cars in USA. Please don't educate me. I know the difference very well.

I think you also don't realize that most of the petrol imported by Pakistan is used in two wheelers specifically 70 cc chinese clones of prehistoric honda cd 70.

I think you also don't know why after 50 years you can still buy a Rs. 20,000 70cc in just 40,000 Rs. whereas similar sized cars have seen more than 3,000 % increase in their prices.

the truck is a utility vehicle a double cabin can accommodate more people & the tub is for loading. Thats' the purpose of a truck globally.

the buyer has paid 7.5 million for truck and 1 million Premium for immediate delivery. am sure he is a respectable tax filer and have reasons for undocumented premium payment for genuine reason as well.

What I am trying to say is; Hilux is not a luxury vehicle. I think OP is wrong in considering it and expecting it to behave and ride like a luxury vehicle.

Public transport has many plus points. But in Pakistan, motorcycle transport is cheap. Public transport is not viable until you make either motorcycle transport expensive or public transport cheap. Govt projects for public transport like orange train and metro bus run under subsidy. Otherwise they can't compete with motorcycle transport.

Genuine reason for some is the fact that after six months wait, it is very plausible they have to pay more than what
they are paying now even after including premium. These local assemblers manipulate the market. They deliberately reduce their production so that they keep on extracting premium.
