Humayun bhai. I am looking to buy an indus corolla. Reading about discussions and your suggestions are really informative.
Kindly inform, how can one see the difference between 2nd gen and 3rd gen in 5A engines?

3rd gen has :-
1- Different style of intake manifold
2- has CKP sensor inside the timing belt cover (although you can see its wiring harness coming out of the timing belt cover, just above the alternator)
3- has coils mostly, some models also have distributors but they are not adjustable & the distributor has single wiring harness (same in mine 7a), whereas older ones were adjustable and had 2 wiring harnesses.

yes, these differences are same for all the A series engines.

Try to get the latest gen, as it will be less driven as compared to older ones.

If you are willing to run it on petrol, then go for coils version ...
