Toyota Indus Revo - Poor Quality

Dear All,

I recently purchased a Toyota Revo V 2019 model from Toyota Walton Lahore. It's 8000 driven so far. The day before yesterday, during heavy rain in Lahore, Revo was parked outside, in rain.

After the rain I went to park it under the porch, I noticed water burble sound is coming from inside, from the back cabin. After thorough checking, I found out that both back doors have water filled up in them. When I removed the rubber stopper placed at the bottom of the door, I was surprised to see the water flowing out from inside the door.

I must say, what a Poor Quality at this price? I've made a video in case if anyone wants to see the quality Toyota Indus selling for 6.3 million.

Please let me know what to do with it now?

This has to be reported in warranty. Shame on them for putting inferior quality rubber seals. Are u sure ur windows were not open?

I wish I could upload the video... I, too, thought for a second that both back windows were down but it was totally dry from inside and windows were up...... The sound was like water dispersed when you shake a jerrycan...The mechanic thought diesel in the fuel tank is causing the sound which was more alarming for me. I was going to get the back seat dis-mental when the mechanic chotu said the door is filled with water, which at first, I didn't believe. There was at least 2 or 3 liters of water in both back doors.

What a rip off.

You should have driven straight to the dealership and claimed warranty. Please don't take your new vehicle to roadside mechanics. This leakage is unacceptable. Claim warranty immediately!!

So I decided to claim warranty as advised....sitting at Toyota walton workshop....as per them, this not an issue because water seeps in from windows in every vehicle, thats why there is a stopper at the bottom of the door to automatically drain the water....nothing needs to be changed, just the bottom rubber needs replacement.

I, honestly, don’t buy this logic but thought should check for opinion.

Same happened with my Fortuner 2018.. Dw bro its normal just remove those little plastic type rubber thats what i did

I’m still sitting at the toyota workshop, apparently, the only solution they have is make a hole in the stopper.....

As per them, the stopper is designed in this way to drain the water....

I, however, still don’t get this because I bought it for off roading/hunting and often have to cross rivers or ponds...the stopper at the bottom of the door, as per my knowledge, is to prevent water entrance when driven in flooded areas, rather for drainage.

The top weather stripping is supposed to stop water from entering into the door. Means this weather stripping is not doing its job and water is entering the door. Logic given by the dealership is not acceptable. That means doors of cars in UK and Europe will always be full of water since it rains there constantly? Ridiculous!

This is BS. DO NOT make any kind of hole in the stopper. It's a rubber plug performing it's function exactly like it's designed to do i.e. to stop water entering from beneath and drain the doors if/when water accumulates in the doors. This problem is prevalent in almost every other Indus Fortuner/Revo on the road. I don't understand why people aren't talking about this. I too own a Fortuner 2018 and sometimes after 2-3 heavy washes there is enough water in one of the doors that I can hear it squish while driving. Then I have to drain it by removing the rubber plugs.

The only real solution to this problem is either change all 4 weather strips or identify and plug the leak.

gli, city etc dont have rubber stoppers on the bottom. So if water is going through, its going right through haha. We just dont notice it.

Exactly....in a nutshell, dealership is advised by toyota indus to make a hole in stopper beneath the door....they apparently have no solution to this problem other then this.

Water entering the door simply means the seals inside the door are not working, as per google, and should be replaced... thats it.... end of subject.

We, Pakistanis, on other hand, have adopt a fact to let go everything and try to either live with it or look for a workaround. We comprise our living standards and everything just because a fact that we, as an individual, can’t make any difference....we look for workarounds rather pushing to address the issue.

This problem arose since Inception of new Revo/ Fortuner for 2-3 years now and till date, no one has pushed to get the issue fixed....meaning this is a known issue for almost 3 years and yet, we spent millions of hard earned money and yet, we accept the poor quality and don’t question.

Im sorry guys but this is really frustrating.
