Bestway to clean Catalytic Convertor? Any mechanic is Rawalpindi/Islamabad?? Cleaning or replacement whichone is best???

you need to take off cat bro.if you dont know the specs inform me i will share that information.
then you have two options
1- take caustic soda around 400 grams with water in a bucket so only cover your CAT.not much water.and let that sit for couple of hours.then wash it water and compress air.

2- fill CAT with white vinegar and leave it whole night .then wash it with water and compress air...

There is a workshop in f8 Islamabad by the name of “car diagnostics and tuneup center”. They don’t use any kind of chemical to clean catalytic converters. I suggest you to go there

That's a great way to damage precious metals present inside catalytic convertor.
Mainly you're providing catalytic convertor with oxidation and reduction at the same time.
Chemistry is very useful in daily life. Apply it on your car too.

Exactly, catalytic converter is not just a jaali to be washed with acids or something. If someone used acid in CAT cleaning he should start a countdown until the complete failure of CAT. The workshop I mentioned above, i think they use pressurised air or something i am not sure but they are saying they don’t use any kind of chemical or acid...

there is not a single workshop out there which dont use any chemical to clean CAT brothers.
im in Toyota Industry (KSA) since 12 years so i know what workshop do to clean CAT.if you tell me that workshop dont use any chemical to clean Thats a lie bro.""with respect""
second those were home remedy which i present,,with those 2 Acids you are 99.9% chance not to damage the CAT,Vinegar is Acid bro NOT A CHEMICAL and caustic Soda is also ACID not a chemical..

if you guyz have some better solutions rather than taking to a workshop please i would love to hear..thnx

First of all Mr. Toyota , for your info VINEGAR is diluted acetic acid which is a chemical ... similarly caustic soda is also a chemical .... please educate yourself before trying to act smart ...

From your 12 years of Toyota KSA experience , share one reference from Toyota workshop manuals where it says to treat the CAT CON with any chemical for cleaning .... we the PW family are looking forward to your response on this

from chemistry’s point of view , only ALKALINE SOLUTIONS TO BE used which doesn’t react with the rear earth metals

Caustic soda is NAOH which is a base.
Vinegar is CH3COOH which is acidic.
I don't need to explain it further.
Motorclean cleans catcon with hydrogen.

second i am not a chemical Engineer Brother so im not trying to be smart maybe you are..i am a simple Auto Mechanical Engineer just

it is very easy to tell that take your car to blaa workshop or blaa workshop but taking your Vehicle to a workshop will not help to get Experienced or will not help to get Educate ourselves .

For cleaning cat con. We face two things. unburnt Carbon deposit and hydrocarbon oil and other most dangerous thing is magnese dioxide powder. Its simple chemistry. Caustic soda react with unburnt hydrocarbon and acetic acid may react with magnese dioxide.

If can afford a brand new one, then replacement is best, otherwise, get it cleaned / serviced.

Agreed to you basit. If CAT gone bad the best solution is always replacement. But finding a clean and new CAT is always tricky bcz most of japanese spare parts are kaabli & who knows they are washed and cleaned or in original condition.

for my personal experience detergent isnt effective against clean CAT,
but i use caustic soda + water + 3 hours...
all Toyota CAT are 3 layers of ceramic honeycomb.so there is no any chance to damage with caustic acid....
before you go further brother you can try this.if your not happy with result then you can contact with workshop.but trust me the workshop will use some kind of Acids to clean it...(which is costly a bit)

Kindly tell me the concentration of caustic soda you use?? How many grams in how much water?? Caustic soda you use in powdered form or in flakes form??? In Pak both forms are available. Nd thnk bro

dont go to any workshop n use acids
just go on motorway for an hour or more high speed drive in S gear and ur cat ll be fine
do this occasionally to keep cat healthy

Should we use this with Hi Octane or can also be done with normal fuel?

Brother you can use
400 grams powder form + 3 liters water (if the water is not enough to completely dip CAT CON use little more water )
and 3 to 4 hours (if you have a bit more time its good bro)
also clean Oxygen Sensor (simply dip in Gasoline for same time as CAT CON dip time)

I think while doing this on high speeds, High Octane seems better option. But normal fuel would also suffice.

Main thing is to drive it continuously, and at high speeds like 100-110 kmph, 120 at max. considering legal speed on motorway.
