I had problem with my vitz 2012 cvt. I was on way to somewhere and all of a sudden the car started revving high and i noticed it was not going to third gear. i slowed down and after like few minutes the check engine light came up. Car was parked and after couple of hours i was going back home and gears were shifting but check engine light was there and after couple of minutes driving shifting was problematic again.
Got the cvt oil changed the next day as it was already due and check engine light was gone. Gear shifting was back to normal. Then after 4-5 days same thing happened again. Electrician checked with obd and told can be some wiring issue or gear switches issue. Opened the chamber and checked all switches which were working good but the main wire was somehow slightly damaged. I am not sure why and how this happened. He fixed the wiring and now its working good.
