Hello, i am new here and this is my first post/question/topic so please forgive me if i sound bit newbie.

I have toyota passo 2012 model, which is consuming/burning/eating a lot of engine oil for last 1 year, i was using 5W30 but now i am using 20W50 and still it only gives men 2500 KMs. SO i think its on its last breaths so i have decided to change the engine.

I am wondering if i should go for same 1.0L 1KR engine or should i go for 1.3L engine. my questions are:

Should i go for 1.0L or 1.3L? i feel my car to be underpowered when travelling on long roads. It also make knocking sounds and vibration is there as well.
Which 1.3L engine is suitable for passo 2012 that will fit on its foundation? (i think you guys use "bolt to bolt" term for this)
Will i need to change other things if i go for 1.3L like electric wiring, computer or anything else?

Your replies would really help me decide and i would really appreciate them.

1.3L is good and better than 1.0L. Also fuel consumption of 1.3 is better. For 1.3 you need to change wiring, ecu basically complete engine gear.

Thanks for the reply Ahmed. i have red about 3 types of 1.3 Engines ....

1nrfe, 2szfe , 2nzfe ... which one would fit.

Also if you can suggest good and honest mechanic in islamabad/pindi who can change this.

1nr fe is not so common here although 2SZ is available. 2NZ is not recommended.

80% of people that i discussed this with, do not recommend engine overhauling, they suggest to go for replacement. Have you tried it? i mean overhaul your engine.

No I an just asking was it one of the options or not, cuz the engine you will swap with is not guaranteed to be unopened, or is it?

Most of them give guarantee that it wont eat up engine oil, some of them even tell you mileage of engine, but then again, there is no way to verify these things ...
as far as overhauling is concerned, i have researched a bit and met some people as well who said they had done the overhauling but they are not satisfied, either the problem was still their, or some other issue arose due to overhauling ....

now these issue can come in swapped engine as well, and why mechanics prefer to change it instead of overhauling ... only they can tell you ... it may be due to expertise, being more laboursome and time consuming than replacing or something else ....
