I bought an unregistered Toyota Passo 2014 model 25000km driven one week ago in Karachi. After purchasing, went to a Toyota 3S dealership to get initial maintenance done. Got engine oil, oil filter, AC filter, Air filter changed. Dealership representatives recommended brake service and engine tuneup so I went for that. Asked them to not replace the spark plugs though. After engine tuneup the Engine Check-light showed up. After a long diagnostic process turned out the O2/Exhaust sensor of the car developed problem so the dealership agreed to replace it on their responsibility. Today finally they installed a new O2 sensor in my car and the engine check light vanished. But when I drove my car out of the dealership all of a sudden all the instrument cluster check-lights came on and the instrument panel and my audio player’s lights started flickering. The power steering light also came up and I could feel the steering became pretty hard. The car also got stuck in a single forward gear, wasn’t gear shifting. Only the engine check-light wasn’t showing, rest all lights including ABS, Airbag, Traction Control, Power Steering, AutoStop all were turned on. Some burning smell was also coming from the engine compartment.
Immediately rushed back to the dealership where the car finally died down and wouldn’t start again, seemed like the batter ran out of power. Anyhow, they connected the car to some scanner and did some reset of the software and then started the engine by connecting to another external battery. Since then all abnormal instrument cluster lights went off and things became normal but then car starting jerking upon accelerating. The jerks are pretty strong and can be felt throughout the drive.
Currently my active issue is just this jerking movement seems like something tries pushing the car back when I accelerate and this jerking occurs. Rest all instrument lights and everything seems normal.
I read some online forums and realised that flickering of dash and audio lights alongwith a jerky drive could be due to faulty/loose electrical connections. The battery of the car is in perfect condition, just like new.
Can anyone drop some expert advice on this. I’m worried my new car has developed some fault or what just because of the issues which started with engine tuning. I want to better understand the issue because dealership has asked me to bring the car on Saturday for them to fix the issue. Uploading a sample photo of the instrument cluster when lights came on, I have a detailed video though which shows entire sequence of events. Will be grateful. Thanks.
