Hello folks,

Update on my Passo testing:

Last week's average mileage: 12 km/l, normal acceleration, moderate traffic city driving with AC on, O/D off below 60 km/h.

Not very good performance. And I had already changed the engine oil / filter and the air filter last week.

Today, I took the car to Toyota 3S, they did a full engine tune up. Found all spark plugs worn out and leaky, got them changed with new genuine irridium ones (cost Rs. 1200/plug), got throttle body cleaned (was getting blocked with carbon), and got wheel balancing done. Total bill = Rs. 6,500.

Asked about transmission oil change, but the Toyota guy told me there is no need unless you feel the gears are not changing on time or properly. Generally they change it after 80,000 km for automatic trans. Mine has done only 30,000 so they recommended me against it.

After tune-up and everything, now I can feel the car is more responsive and is giving a more powerful pick. Will run it through the same mileage test this week, however with O/D continuously on and will report progress enshallah next week.

Tip to folks who have done everything and still not noticing improvement in mileage: Try getting your wheels balanced and drive with firmer tyres (~ 35 psi inflation pressure instead of 30 psi). Let me know if it helps.

Plz update us abt ur passo. Did the fuel avg improve after tune up of ur car from toyota 3s?

My average for last week has been 13 km/l with AC on, city driving and O/D constantly switched on. I am not very happy with this mileage, however maybe my driving style might be to blame. I drive with quite a heavy foot and fast acceleration, and through moderately congested streets. The pick of my car improved considerably after the tune-up by Toyota 3S, however I am not sure if they really tuned it very well for the mileage. I am currently recording the distance the car will travel on a full tank of petrol (got it filled week and half ago) and will calculate the actual average mileage I got when I am down to the end.

Currently, most of my mileage calculations are from the displayed average.

Anybody getting higher mileage on city driving with AC on? Can you please explain about what maintenance you have done to improve it and was it successful?

I bought Toyota Passo 3 months back and am satisfied with every aspect of the car except fuel consumption which is HORRIBLE. it only gives 9.5/10 km/L max. i got it tuned up and checked out at the reputed Yazdani Motors in DHA but observed only a little improvement. if anyone can help in this matter it will be much appreciated .....

I have just bought a passo today for 875k! Unregistered.

2007 model, minor scratches, which i ll leave them as they are. As it will be showered from outside within 2 years.(my wife will be the driver).

Why is the box between the two front seats missing in all toyota passo cars imported to Pakistan. This box has two sections that open from top. Their cover slides on the sides of the box. First section has removable holders for two cups. Base of the box is carpeted. Box is detachable.

Today i gave my passo to mechanic!

Changed gear oil, plugs and tuning. The engine oil was perfect as it was already changed by dealer. The air filter needed cleaning. The steering was giving some sound, (dhug dhug), which, as per mechanic is normal with passos, so he fixed that as well.

The only thing which is left is its tyres! Which tyres should i go for? Suggest plz.

I have seen dunlop size 13, cost 5.7k per piece.
