I have recently bought passo 2007. Having little problem with O/D. O/D light over meter keeps flashing and sometimes it limits the gear shifting .. like 2nd gear main he chalti rehti hay gari no matter how hard i press the pedal ... Kindly help me out .. how to use overdrive option ... what does it means when "O/D off" light is ON over meter ?

• when OD button is pressed, there is no OD light in the meter(it is off) , means the car is in OverDrive mode, so it can utilize all 4 gears.

• and when you unpress the OD button, the light in the meter glows permanently (no blinking), in this mode, car only uses first 3 gears.

• to my knowledge, OD light will never blink under normal conditions, so get your car checked with any scanner.

and what do you suggest about effectively using overdrive option..? I am living in Islamabad and usually drive 10-15 kms/day .. i heard that keeping O/D option ON would give better fuel consumption ...? what your opinion about it ?

to my understanding.. if you do long routes .. fine roads where u can drive above 60-70 for longer .. you should keep O/D option ON means the O/D light in the meter should be OFF.. if the light is glowing over meter that means O/D is OFF ..

but i am really not sure about it's impact over gear utilization .. like us000 mentioned that if O/D is OFF .. car will be using 3 gears otherwise 4 ..

to make it simple OD OFF would give you better acceleration and slightly taller gear ratios because car operates in one less gear (if you have 4AT than it is restricted to 3 gears and if you have 5AT it is restricted to 4 gears). it is ideal for over taking or when you are in mood of having a kick out of your econobox or when you are on a steep climb like going towards murree or you might be towing a friend's car. These are the practical usages coming to my mind to turn OFF the OD (light in the meter turns on) otherwise in 99% normal day driving you should keep it ON for better fuel economy and wear & tear on the gear & engine ... correct me if i am wrong, atleast that's how OD used to work in my 03 Vitz.

yes you are right,
in islamabad, if you are driving on main double roads, hiways etc, OD should remain On all the time.
but if you want to drive in streets/gali then you can turn Off OD, it doesn't matter much if OD is on or off on small roads.

No clean passo I was able to find on Khalid bin waleed road. Found this one which I liked but there is no auction sheet and is 98k on odo. 2008 xf with sofa seat and everything asking 10.70.

Average price of 2008 passo is around one million these days.

^ 10.70 is too much for a 2008 model.

Actually its red wine color which is not easily available and secondly its XF thats why he is asking a high price, but you can negotiate with him...

but the mileage is too high 98k plus there is no auction sheet available for the car means its an older import. is there anyway of getting to know the auction report of the car via engine or chasis number?

08 unreg cars are varying from 9 - 9.75 depending on their options, mostly are X grade, found only two XF, one was this maroon and there was another 07 XF in red color 3.5 grade but i have doubts on it's engine condition (23k on odo but engine was making strange noises, showroom person said its because engine is cold and its starting after like 3 days)
