Toyota Platz Manual Low Pick Up Problem

I have a toyota platz manual transmission 2005 model ... I am currently facing a low pickup problem and also the engine is vibrating at idle , you dont feel too much vibration when inside the car or driving but when the bonnet is opened ,engine produces alot of vibration at idle but when giving acceleration the engine becomes stable but the pick is very low ,it feels like something is stopping the car to pick up ,like the engine is feeling under powered or something ....Kindly let me know what could be the problem ... fuel pump is working fine with great fuel pressure ....And the pick up problem is both with ac and without ac

I had a similar problem with by 04 Honda City MT, the culprit was that the valve cover seals were leaking and plugs were drenched in oil. I was unable to accelerate past 40km/h on a bridge as it felt like there was no pick at all.

Please specify your mileage and if your car is well maintained.

Mileage is 0kay i guess, its like 12-15, but i d0nt think the car is well maintained, that is why i am having these pr0blems, did y0ur city had engine vibrati0n in neutral while at st0p, but as s00n as y0u pressed accelerati0n in neutral, the vibrati0n w0uld g0 away and engine bec0me stable? i am really w0rried that i might have a weak engine and need t0 replace it, which i d0nt want t0 d0.... i just wanna get it fixed, M0re help will be appreciated, Thanks

My engine was at its final stages as the oil changes were not timely done. It was a bit louder ofcourse since some spark plugs were not firing and became smoother after the work was done.

Eventually I had to swap the engine with a new assembly and now it runs like a beast. I hope that is not the case for you, get a compression test done and you will get your answer.

Yeah g0in 0n hills feels that way, but 0n the plain r0ad like m0t0rway, given en0ugh time 0fc0urse because 0f the bad pick up pr0blem, the car runs fine, it even cr0sses 120, but it takes al0t 0f time, i h0pe y0u might get s0me idea, in 2nd gear it barely t0uches 40 even it it d0es, y0u have t0 keep pressing the accelerati0n f0r a l0ng time meanwhile the engine pr0duces a l0t 0f accelerati0n s0und, like the engine s0und w0uld feel p0werful but the car just w0nt pick up speed, it just w0nt... i cant even remember when was the last time i g0t it t0 past 70

It may be possible your clutch plate and pressure plate need to be changed. There is a way that you can check them as well, search the forums and you can find that as well.

Mine didn't manage to cross even 40, atleast I was following the speed limit

I h0pe thats n0t the case f0r me ,like 4 years back i had my engine renewed, and it was fine,but last year in summer, the car g0t 0verhearted while using ac and it shutd0wn, everytime i w0uld turn on ac the car w0uld just turn 0ff, like it was n0t able t0 handle the ac l0ad, and since then n0 pickup, ac is w0rkin fine th0ugh

Hey there, h0w are y0u? s0 i g0t my car checked, i didn't d0 a c0mpressi0n test, just had it checked by a mechanic... All the spark plugs were dripped in 0il as the pr0blem y0u had with y0ur car... After changing all the plugs, the pick up g0t better, but the s0urce 0f the pr0blem still remains... There was a tappet c0ver seal leakage, which i ll replace t0m0rr0w and als0 get general tuning...

0ne 0ther thing the mechanic suggested that was the fact that after replacing the plugs, the car seems t0 be gettin a pretty g00d pick up (i checked it my self, he was right) but he said that the car is gettin a pick up as if it were an aut0matic car... He suspects that the ecu 0f my car is an aut0 tramissi0n vehicle ecu, that is why the car pick up is behaving as an aut0matic car.... What are y0ur th0ughts ab0ut that? let me kn0w... Thanks

And Als0 D0 y0u have any idea f0r much a manual ecu g0es f0r these days? ( I am n0t plannin t0 change the ecu, i just want t0 kn0w the price, let me kn0w if y0u have any idea)

I would suggest just getting the seals replaced and using your car normally for a few months.

As goes for the price of the ECU I am totally unaware as I have never kept Platz. If after a few months of use you still feel pick is an issue then get a second opinion from another mechanic as well.

You will not believe the lies these mechanics feed customers to make a few extra bucks.

Yeah the seals have been replaced already, als0 the acceleratu0n wire was an issue, s0 i changed that t00... n0w 0ver all cars perf0rmance has been lifted up, its better n0w, better pick, better accelerati0n...

But Mechanic said that new plugs that he replaced are still getting a little bit 0f m0isture, s0 after changing the seals, he suggested t0 take it 0n a drive, drive it f0r a few weaks, if the m0isture keeps c0ming then y0ur engine is weak (pr0blem with the ring pist0n) in which case it ll be better t0 get a new engine.... But if the m0isture d0esn't c0me back and the car keeps running fine, then everything is fine...

S0 f0r the pick up pr0blem i had my plugs changed (mechanic put kabli plugs) and i changed the seals... n0w the pick up is fine, its way better, but the new pr0blem n0w is that the car is c0nsuming t00 much petr0l.... its like 1km per litre even 0n high 0ctane.... 0ne mechanic said change the inject0rs, and the 0ther 0ne said theres n0 pr0blem with the inject0rs but with the kabli plugs, just use ngk 0riginal plugs and the average will be rest0red.... what sh0uld i d0? any suggesti0ns?

My wiring joint near MAF filter was rusty, plus my electrician thoroughly cleaned MAF filter with a lot of WD40.
plus I started using right type of Mobil Oil, 5W30.
Most of my problems were gone.

Except low pick while climbing heights between Muree and Ayubia with full load of six adults.

Maf shouldn't be cleaned with wd40.Use contact cleaner for it
