Toyota Prado 1996 (DIff Lock)

Dear, can anybody tell me the main difference between prado TX and TZ, specially for 96 to 2002 model prado, i saw all adds from seller but nobody mentioned about Diff lock, which is important features for Off-Road, even buyers never asked about it, what is your opinion, please summarize about TX, TX limited and TZ models, Is TX model has diff lock feature or not?

Usually No diff lock in japanese models . If there is than it will be mentioned. Diff lock is usually in european models. In japanese there is LsD

Is LSD feature available in TX model and in Toyota Surf 1996 to 2002 model?

only if the vehicle is in STOCK Setup the ID plate can tell such minute details - as in Trans/Axle Code

Yes not all have lsd

It depends. But prados are full time 4wd and surf is 2wd and part time 4wd

You mean that Prado is no rear wheel drive in normal mode as well, all time 4 by 4?, i don`t think so, i think once it is needed than we can switch gear..

No dear. Prados are full time 4wd . If not believe than check by lifting front wheel and starting and puting it in gear while in 2wd position

1996 onward Prado are full time 4x4.

Main difference: tx is 5 seater, tx limited is 7 seater and both of them have single ac (front only). Tz is 7 seater and dual ac. Sunroof is usually found in all. Electric/ heated seats, active traction, lsd etc. are optional features and are very rare. You might find them in very few TZs.

Yes all prados are full-time 4x4. And all 4x4s come with at least one kind of diff lock otherwise you can't offroad! 90 series prado have centre diff lock as standard and to engage it you use the smaller shift lever commonly called the '4x4 gear'. A light comes on the dash once it's engaged

Ps above info is relevant for 90 series prado only i.e. 96-02 model. Later prados had more prominent differences b/w tx txL tz and TZ.G

Done some research. Almost all jdm prado 90s have LSD. Check axle code if it is A02A it is with LSD

How do i check it for mine? From what I've heard it came as standard in Australian models. Not sure for JDM....
I know there's a way to check by lifting the two rear wheels but is there an easier method?

What is axle code on ur chasis plate
