Toyota Prado 2004 Facelift 2020

Guys, I've an interesting one to bother you all with today. I plan to buy a 2004 TZ 3.4 Prado and will be converting it to 2020 model (as you all may know about this new practice going on) let's just say I've always been a sedan keeper and this will be my first ever SUV.

So my question really is, is it worth buying a 16 years old car? I've always heard Prado / Cruiser beshak 1998 hoon, unka engine buhat Robust hota hai and all. Shall i just go for it considering its model year is just a number and nothing really to worry about?

First of all age is not just a number it means a lot, even though toyotas are well made things do wear out with time. The Prado you are going after is around 17 years old and finding one with that "ROBUST ENGINE" would be quite a task as mostly these have swapped engines or genuine but abused engines.
But still they are very reliable and maintainable. Just find yourself a low mileage, well maintained car and these machines do last a long time and as it is your first ever SUV find someone who knows about them and ask them to inspect it while purchasing as things do get a little different in them.

Hi Saad, thank you for taking your time out in writing this and sharing your views. You reckon there is any genuine fool proof way to check car original mileage? Most of the cases I've witnessed or came across, meter peeche kiya hota. It surely is going to be one hell of a task but the luxury of 2020 model (after conversion) while paying for just 2004-ish price is the real triggering charm for me lol. Hope i don't mess up

Its a good 4x4 and finding a good condition one in reason able price tag is almost impossible these days.

Just stay away from face lifting it, you will ruin and devalue your prado. Keep it stock and rather invest in replacing the wear and tears parts with new OEM ones. It will stay reliable and good looing.

Well i don't think there is a way to tell the exact mileage.
But the method that I use myself when buying a car is to check it for possible wear and tear that comes with time and normal driving such as worn out pedals, gear knobs especially the steering wheel, similarly cracked seats, faded paint, changed parts and the odometer itself (to inspect it for any possible signs of tampering) etc.
E.g. In case of a Prado I will expect it to have mostly genuine company fitted parts and a minimally worn out steering wheel or console at 100k but if it has more, it's mileage has possibly been tampered.

I saw a few fb post about 99 model being shaped to 2020 one... Was fascinated by it... I realy wanted to inquire the scope of this and how the experience plz guide

Salam . Yes I have . And I am happy with new facelift. Its cost around 1miliion and above. Lots of thing you can uplift. It's up to you. But I am talking about main basic parts.
