Toyota prado TZ suspension

My prado TZ 2004 comes with height adjustment and air suspension.Everything seems to be working properly. But I’m just not happy with the performance, it feels so stiff especially when driving with no load. With 4-5 people on board it feels comparatively better. What should I do do get rid of this stiffness even in the comfort mode?

i had one, and had to let it go for electronic height & air suspension way too uncomfortable without full load.
nothing can be done to improve the ride.

No suspension shop can redo it once opened., and you will suffer more.

So simple non-hydraulic shocks of same model will work?
Ride will be better, less bouncing but at the cost of no height adjustment.

prados and expecially the ones with air suspension where considered benchmark of comfort..
I haven't driven 120 series but 150 series is pretty comfortable. Maybe something is wrong with your suspension..
Which car did you upgrade from to prado?

If everything is fine with your suspension then drive a hilux for few days prados ride will feel better

I had a Toyota Premio 2009 previously.

Actually we have 120 series Prado’s in family and they feel a little better comparatively, but the mechanic insists that nothing is wrong.

120 series has 5 variants for different regions. what we get here in PK by smugglers are mostly JDM. Those are equipped with air supported & electronic suspension. Worst when vehicle is without any active load. I had one almost the same one but in pearl white, it was not very comfortable with only 2 people onboard.
loaded with luggage & 4~ 5 adults + few underage it was like a sail boat in calm seas.

Air suspension and height control is only on rear wheels in Prado 120. So, your front suspension might be old and need replacing. My Prado's air balloons on rear suspension leaked after I took it to off-road track on Deosai Plains. Replaced the balloons and it was good as new. But after few years the front suspension started getting uncomfortable, I would feel small bumps on road, but big bumps were comfortable, weird. Later I sold it to a dealer and he pointed out that front suspension needs some work.

Mine works fine with load as well. It’s fully loaded European version 4000cc with height adjustment, heated seats , cruise control and stuff. I just love how powerful it is compared to 3400cc Prados.

From where did you repair air suspension balloon leaks

Toyota Cantt, Lahore. Price was around 35,000 for both balloons, but it was 8 years ago. So it probably will cost over 100,000 now from dealership.
