I just noticed today that display on my 2 gen Prius 1500cc model 2010 has stopped showing the yellow bar chart for fuel consumption at 5 mins interval like 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30. It is just blank. Although the yellow bar on the right showing current fuel consumption works and also the main screen which has battery animation with wheels also shows the current consumption like 99.9km/h and kms travelled. But just the bars of consumption history have disappeared.

I recently had an mp3 player with DVD player (without screen) attached to the cars main mfd screen. And the radio antenna is also connected to this new player and not the cars built-in radio. Could that have caused this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Same happened with me. After installation of DVD player. U will notice that wheels which were used to spin upon car movement have also stopped moving.

When ever i move my prius 1.5 2011 model from parking a sound comes from rear below and some times even when some one gets in the car or leave. What could be the issues . Seems like sound coming from rear shocks as greasing dried up. Expert opinion required . Bought it at 72000 km in last sep now done 86000 kms. I have installed spacers in rear in last year sep. Could that be a reason or have they worn out

Sometimes spacers start giving noise. But since ur car is alreay 86k kms done, so shocks might need replacement. Better get it checked from same place from where u got the spacers installed.

Well i think that your prius is the unlucky one that is imported to Pak which is under recall by Toyota Japan.Hybrid system usually halts

2012 to 2015 model, that too of prius v. Anyhow, its fix will be available locally soon.

Yes I just checked and the wheels have also stopped moving. You think the DVD player has messed up things? Am concerned because on the 2nd gen the screen is not just a TV screen like others but is also the cars built-in computer ecu having technical controls. Modifications to it could affect the cars performance

No i didnt get it fixed. As it doesnt affect any of car performance.

Btw, from where did u get dvd installed?

Ok i figured out. It's the speed sensor wire purple color behind the screen that is cut in order for the video to play even when the car is moving, otherwise the video stops playing for safety reasons. So with the wire cut the car computer thinks its not moving and continues to play video.

There is no harm in installing spacers. In fact it's dead necessary for Prius 3rd. Get 0.75 inch spacers installed and you are good to go.
Your ride will never hit speed brakes plus this much size won't ruin it's looks.

I don't think there is some sort of problem to be worried for.I own 2 prius 1.5(2007) & 1.8(2011).
Never experienced any issue regarding batteries or parts.Probably Prius is a very famous car of a famous brand TOYOTA.how can one worry about the availability of its parts.Move on bro, there of Thousands of other people using Prius as well as Aqua, u r not the one.

Well, I had this problem in my Prius 2nd generation last year. Like in your case, initially the codes were cleared through scanner but the ABS light came back. Eventually I took my car to Toyota Islamabad there I was told that I had to replace the ABS actuator. I myself arranged the actuator from 'Sultan da Khu' that cost me around 13K (They may ask you between 20-25K but it is up to your bargaining skills) and 7K labour. The car is running perfectly for over a year now. My suggestion to you is to visit Toyota Islamabad because they have qualified mechanics for hybrids. Thanks

Thanks for the info. Like I said, there are so many differing views. Even few mechanics I know said discouraging things about it. I did not have good experience with Vitz, of the same brand, so I am more cautious. More than parts, I am concerned about mechanics.

Purchase spare parts only from genuine places (not necessarily from 3S dealers), purchase oil/filters by yourself and always get the car maintained through Toyota workshop. This is key to success for maintaining JDM or maybe any other good car.
