I see the new Prius from two different lenses.
Lens one:-
One can get a similar shape prius for around 2.2 million or so. Thats almost what a new civic costs or what a new corolla will cost once the new model launches here. So in a way, u can say its an average priced car that will be used mostly on daily basis. So, anyone buying a civic or corolla can instead spend the same or even a bit less money on a used, nice n clean prius n save some money on gas. For this type of usage(/person), i.e. for saving fuel, hardly anyone will buy a new prius for 4.5m pkr. So this launch doesnt make sense.
Lens 2:- The Prius is a veryyy comfortable car, with lots of features which most people in Pakistan havent even heard of. I ve never driven one but people say its much more comfy compared to a civic or a corolla. so in a way, u can say its comfort level would be close to that of an accord etc. The cheapest car with a VSA is the new accord or camry i guess which is 1 crore plus. Airbags n ABS n lot more features. Theres no BRAND NEW car available in market for 4-5m range (by car i mean sedan and NOT a premium sedan like a 316i). The prius will have a warranty, surety about originality and peace of mind of a new car. So, lets combine all that, COMFORT, FEATURES, SAFETY FEATURES, WARRANTY, ORIGINALITY, BRAND NEW CAR, and FUEL ECONOMY. The awesome fuel economy would only be an added advantage for the people who would buy the car from this point of view. They wont be buying the car for the fuel economy but instead would see it as an added feature. So, there may be a small percentage of people who will view the prius as a good deal.
Do i make any sense or have i lost it completely?
