Toyota Prius to Nathia Gali

Hi,
I'm a new Toyota Prius 2010/15 user. I wanted to take my car to northern areas. Last year in April, I went to Murree and my car showed a heating light So I came back halfway.

Now I want to go there again and don't want to face this issue again. What things I can do before going there?

Keep in mind that I have traveled to Lahore to Bahawalpur and back to Lahore the same day on this Pruis and there was no problem. It was only in northern areas.

Just for info, My car batteries are not 100% and show the error once or twice a week. My mechanic suggested using them till the end.

Please let me know what things I can do before traveling. Thanks

No car should ever overheat there.

Your cooling system ie radiator, coolant or fan is shot.. please find the root cause before venturing again. Make sure it’s not leaking, fan runs fine, no major rust, coolant level is adequate and it hasn’t gone bad etc.. Check battery’s cooling system as well.

Hybrid batteries usually have some kind of filter for their cooling systems underneath the backseats, Look for some youtube videos and check if the filter is clogged. It is important to know whether this was a heating warning for the batteries or the engine.

For the batteries, I would expect that Toyota has some kind of system implemented wherein you could drive while the car disconnects the batteries to avoid overheating them. We took a second generation Prius to Nathia Gali back in 2014, felt a little sluggish on deep inclines but went up and down with no issues

So it was electric motor pump problem. I replaced it with a kabli one. It cost me 24,000.

What pump exactly and how do you know the problem is now fixed ?

He's talking about water pump.
That could be the problem in his case, but he should have gone for a new one instead of spending such huge amount on an old used pump.
