Salam Everyone.

I recently bought Toyota vitz in good condition 2011 Model Reg 2015. The engine is sealed pack untouched but reducing Oil level. I mechanic suggest me to use thicker oil Havoline 20/50. But still it is reducing oil 1 liter per 1000KM. any suggestion.

Also in morning time i start car through some drops from silencer on ground along with water. From engine some time sound like tick tick tick on steep path but after running some kilometers its vanished.

What oil grade is being used currently?

This is common in all Vitz 1kr engines prior to 2014. Toyota fixed it only in the 2014 spider shape facelift.

It will burn oil no matter what you do. Cheapest solution is to check oil level after every 1000,1500km and top up oil.

Engine will run fine for decades. Use any cheap 0w20 oil for optimum economy, no other oil is recommended for 1kr-FE engine.

Other option if you can’t do this is to overhaul ie rebuild the engine. But do you really want to spend close to 1 lakh for this, also have to find a reliable person for it.

Third option is to swap engine with a 1300cc, won’t advise this. Though many pre2014 Vitz people do it. Highly risky, and have to change registration docs as well mentioning the new engine.

For oldest generation of 1KR-FE 10w30 was the recommended oil.

for the newest u can put 0w20 or even 0w16. for 2011 5w30 may work fine. @sulemanashraf95 try using any ILSAC GF-6A oil. You wont be disappointed with the result.

The manuals suggest only 0w20 since at least 2nd gen 2005/6. Not sure about 1st gen.

Anyways he can try whatever oil he wants unfortunately it won’t fix oil burning which is the inherent issue till post 2014 shape with engine optimization.

How can an oil grade which was introduced in 2010 can be recommended in 2005? It was either 5w30 or 10w30 in the first 1KR-FEs.

One thing that most users don't know that a lot of oil that is lost gets vapourised initially. So an ILSAC-GF6 oil does help.

No matter the grade oil burning does not stop in these Vitz. Inherent flaw till spider shape.

Also manuals of Vitz 2nd gen and both 3rd gen only allow 0w20, other grades need to be replaced at next oil change. You can read up JDM manuals of Vitz.

Checking oil level after 1500km and topping up is the easiest and least cost method.

Yeah atta bhai Rebuild I prefer if done by a competent person like you who knows the engine.

But unfortunately it’s a very costly method, so mostly I suggest checking oil level at 1500-2000km and topping up as needed. Single 4L bottle fully synth easily lasts 7-8k kilometers this way.

What I have observed just like there is written 100% pure on juice packs and then in small lettering "fruit extracts" is written, in case of oils "fully synthetic" can mean either one of the 3 components of engine oils is fully synthetic.

Brother if you're not sure about something, just let it go. We are not competing for anything.

The manual you have posted is NOT for 1kr-fe engine, the Vitz we get here.
1krfe engine does NOT have 3.7L oil capacity, neither 3.4L without filter change.

What you are posting is for some other engine (either 1nr or 1nz) + it might also be outdated from before 2010 era. We are not dinosaurs living in pre-2010 era.

Hint: It too recommends 0w20.
5w30 will not ruin the engine and will likely run fine, but is not the ideal choice for Vitz, specially 1kr-fe.

Does this manual pertain to early models of vitz? can you share the rest of the manual?

I think the quantity of lube oil mentioned in the page are correct. I will share the link to the complete manual. it is for 2006 vitz/yaris
