Toyota Vitz 2012 Engine Oil Advice Please!

I purchased Toyota Vitz 2012 model, 2015 export, 77,000 mileage and have driven 30,000km since then. At around 100,000kms, my car catalytic converter got choked, and immediately after cleaning that, the car started burning engine oil (I was using 5W30). It started to drop aound 1 liter per 2000km, and the engine pick got reduced as well.
At regular toyota maintenance, mechanic change spark plugs (which improved engine pick and fuel efficiency back to normal) and changed oil grade to 20w50.
Now, there is no apparent problem with engine pick, and fuel efficiency (now 12-13km in city with AC, 15km in highway) and the engine oil level never dropped again ever since.

I wonder is it really bad for car engine to keep using 20w50 grade thicker oil? Should I be worried about engine life in the long term? Experience drivers, pleaae advise. Thanks a lot!

Ps: I am happy with car performance otherwise right now, but may think to change car in case this is a serious issue.

Bro agar switch Karna b ho, then gradually aur slowly switch kartay Hain; na k yakkdamm hi, like 5w30 to 5w40, to 10w40, or 5w50, and in the last, 20w50.

Local mechanics know little about JDM cars, buss 20w50 Ka bharra parha hua hai, aur harr engine mein wo yei daali jatay Hain.

1 lac Odo reading for 1 KR-FE is nothing. My colleague has 2008 Vitz, it's 128,000 Kms plus, he is still pouring ZIC A+ 5w-20 in it and engine is working flawlessly. May be, oil genuine na ho and because of that, it got burnt or reduced.

I would suggest to always use % genuine and original, API SN, Fully Synthetic engine oil in your vehicle, preferably 5w-30 grade (all of these conditions must meet). Total Quartz 9000 and ENEOS Sustina are 2 excellent options in this grade. You can switch to this grade after complete engine flush, the next time you change engine oil. I am hopeful if the oil will be genuine, it will not get burnt or reduced. Just my suggestion'

1krfe has inherent problem of consuming oil. Start the car and let it come to idle temperature than rev it to 6000rpm few times and it will throw back blue smoke a sign of engine oil consumption.
Now to avoid this i would suggest you check the PCV valve of your engine and if it's working great at 20W50 than let it run on it no problem.

Brother there’s nothing to worry about. I’m using 20W40 in my premio G 2.0 . I have it since 2010 and still using the same engine oil. I bought it when the odo was 65k now it has done 180k and it still going strong.

Just make sure the oil is orginal.
