Toyota Vitz 2015 F 1.0 Spider Shape Tyre/Rims recommendation

Hi,

Recently bought Vitz 2015 1.0 F. It comes with stock 165 70 R14 tyres fitted with plastic wheel cups.
I am also facing ground clearance problem with 4 people on some bumps. I wanted to fit alloy rims and most people recommend 185/65r15 tyre size which I think might be too heavy and big for Vitz 1.0 and will ruin fuel economy and acceleration. Currently fuel economy without AC is around 16 and without AC is around 14.5.
Please suggest good tyre size that will not affect fuel consumption and also increase ride height a little.

Bro based on my recent experience with 185/65/R15 Bridgestone Ecopia tires on 15" light weight "Lenso" alloy rims in my 2015 model Vitz, I would sincerely suggest to avoid this option; i.e. 15" rims and tires.

No doubt, ground clearance, braking, cornering, handling and road grip has sufficiently increased and I haven't felt any need of spacers / packing till date, but fuel efficiency has been severely compromised, coupled with steering becoming hard and engine becoming very underpowered.

And if this is the condition with light weight, genuine and original, light weight Lenso alloy rims, made in Thailand; guess what Havoc will cheap and poor quality, nonbranded, Chinese / Taiwanese rims will bring? Which are extremely heavy?

In the last, I would suggest to stick with 14" rims size (preferably the stock ones), and no need to go for alloy rims.

In 14"; light weight alloy rims from some reputed brand are hard to find. Lenso starts from 15", and Vossen starts from even higher rim size.

Cheap and low quality, nonbranded Chinese / Taiwanese rims will be heavy, putting an additional burden on wheels hubs and suspension.

In 14" rims size, just stick with either 185/65/R14 / 175/70/R14, or at max. 185/70/R14, i.e. max. Dia should be at max. 615 mm. However, this tire may rub against wheels arches / sleeves, especially with 4 persons aboard, and to cover for that you may have to go for spacers / packing option.

185/65/R14 won't rub against wheels arches / sleeves, but may not provide sufficient ground clearance, and you may have to go for packing / spacers option, with 4 persons aboard.

175/70/R14 will provide better fuel efficiency than 185 mm wide tires, as contact area with ground will be comparatively less, however, other issues will remain there and be same like 185/65/R14.

In all these cases, your odo reading, speedometer reading, fuel efficiency figure, etc. Will not be accurate, as it's designed and calibrated for / on 165/70/R14.

My priority to install Alloy Rims is to make the car look better, I can sort of live with ground clearance problem since my commute area is pretty clean.

Was hoping that as a secondary benefit ground clearance issue is also resolved. But seems like cons are more than pros.

I believe this size won't affect fuel economy that much since the overall dimensions of the tyre are pretty close to the OEM one. What do you think? Your tire size 185/65/r15 are too wide and big if you compare it with standard on this website.

Bro, you are right and this new size is quite near to the stock one, however, if you will be opting for 175/60/R15, then I would sincerely suggest to stick with the OEM size; 165/70/R14 only!

@basitali87 i want to stick to OEM size but can't find Alloy rims in that size ( the ones available are heavy weight and not worthy of buying )
So if i want Alloy Rims on my car, I have to switch to 15 inches.

Hmmm... Yes! and rightly said. But non-branded, cheap quality, Chinese / Taiwanese rims will be even more heavier in 15"!

100% genuine & original, light weight, 15" Lenso Alloy rims will be lighter, but will be quite costlier and wider! (I think, 7" is the min. width in 15" alloy rims by Lenso)

Please be very careful in the selection of alloy rims!
